Airport to Negombo
Your tour guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to Negombo, about 30 minutes away. Once you get to the hotel, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and get your first sense of Sri Lanka at your own pace.

Negombo to Polonnaruwa to Dambulla
After breakfast, you'll head out for a 6-hour drive (roughly 260 km) to Polonnaruwa, an early medieval royal city that was the capital between the 11th and 13th centuries. You'll walk through the historic sights, then continue on to Dambulla for the night.

Dambulla to Sigiriya to Kandy
You'll climb up to Sigiriya rock fortress in the morning and explore the palace that King Kassapa built 150 meters up the rock face. From there, take in the views across the landscape. Later on, you'll drive for about 2.5 hours (roughly 90 km) to Kandy, where you'll stay for two nights.

Kandy
Start with breakfast before heading to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, which has over 5,000 different tree and plant species spread across the grounds. Back in Kandy, a local guide will take you through the city and to the Temple of the Tooth, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that holds a sacred tooth relic of Buddha.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya to Bandarawela
The drive through the highlands takes about 4.5 hours (roughly 140 km) and passes through tea plantations with different plant life along the way. You'll stop at a traditional tea factory to see how tea gets grown and processed. After spending some time walking around Nuwara Eliya, you'll continue to Bandarawela, a green city filled with trees, flowers, and rose gardens.

Bandarawela to Horton Plains to Colombo Airport
Leave very early to reach Horton Plains before the sun comes up, since fog typically rolls in later. From there, you'll hike to 'World's End' (taking 3 to 4 hours), Sri Lanka's highest plateau at over 2,130 meters. On clear mornings, you can see the Indian Ocean from here, about 80 km away. Afterward, you'll drive for about 6.5 hours (roughly 190 km) back to Colombo Airport, with a stop at west coast beach hotels if needed. You should arrive around 6 pm.
