Asked on October 9th, 2024Would you recommend this Moroccan trip during December? I have heard in the Atlas Mountains it can snow so was curious if that is a possibility in the region we would go to. What are is expected of the weather in each area so I can have an idea of what to bring.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written October 2024
As a desert country, Morocco can have extreme weather. Winter (November to March) can be very cold, particularly in the mountains and the desert, with overnight temperatures dropping to 5 degrees Celsius or below. Even in summer the desert gets cold at night. It is recommended to bring a sleeping bag, thermals, a scarf, gloves and a warm jacket for travel in winter. Please be prepared for cold showers. If you feel the cold, from November to March you may find the heating and blankets to be insufficient at night. You may like to bring a sleeping bag or thermals to sleep in. Sleeping bags cannot be hired while on the trip and are not easy to buy outside of large cities. In terms of packing its always best to bring a lot of layers that way if you get hot you can always take a layer off.
