  1. Day 1

    Lima

    You'll arrive in Lima and head to your hotel to get settled. After you've had time to freshen up, the evening kicks off with dinner and drinks with your Travel Director and the group to celebrate the start of your trip.

  2. Day 2

    Lima

    A Local Expert walks you through Lima's colonial highlights, including the Cathedral, Government Palace, Archbishop's Palace and City Hall. Then you'll tour Casa Aliaga mansion with family member Wilma Ehni de Aliaga. The afternoon takes you to Museo Larco where an archaeologist leads your visit and you'll have lunch in an 18th-century garden while learning about the museum's collection and women's role in ancient Peru.

    Sacred Valley

    You'll fly to Cusco and then drive through the Sacred Valley, taking in the landscape while learning about its importance to the Incas. Along the way, you'll stop for lunch at Altar Inca with valley views. After you settle into your hotel for the next couple of nights, the evening is yours to rest and adjust to the altitude.

  4. Day 4

    Sacred Valley

    Start at the Mayas salt pans where salt was harvested by the Incas and still gets exported today. Next you'll see Moray, an ancient agricultural site where the Incas tested crops at different altitudes. You'll meet a traditional Quechua weaver and learn about textiles, then have a traditional Pachamanca lunch at Laguna Piuray. The evening brings a visit to Hacienda Huayoccari with its museum, followed by a farm-to-table Peruvian dinner.

    Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

    An IncaRail train takes you through the Andes toward Machu Picchu Pueblo. You'll stop at Ollantaytambo ruins, a 1400s fortress and temple, and visit a local family in the old town. After arriving at Machu Picchu, Local Experts lead a small-group tour through the 15th-century ruins, explaining the history and archaeology. You'll end with dinner and drinks at your hotel.

In the afternoon, you can either relax at the hotel or explore Aguas Calientes, the gateway town with its handicraft market, Allcamayo waterfall and local wildlife. Dinner with the group wraps up the evening.

    You'll take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then transfer to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital where Spanish colonial architecture sits alongside Incan remains. A Local Expert walks you through the city to see the cathedral and Qorikancha, the Inca Empire's most important temple. You'll also visit Mantay store, a project that supports teenage mothers through education and job training. The evening is free to explore on your own.

    After a walking tour of Sacsayhuaman, the massive citadel from Pachacuti's reign, you'll choose between a guided hike to Puca Pucara Inca ruins or checking out the bohemian San Blas neighbourhood with its art galleries. You'll have lunch at Pachapapa restaurant, then visit San Blas Church and explore San Pedro Market. Later, a private after-hours planetarium tour shows you Andean astronomy and cosmology, finishing with local delicacies and hot wine tasting.
