Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bangkok

You'll arrive in Thailand and head to your hotel for mid-afternoon check-in. This is your chance to settle in, freshen up, and get some rest before things really kick off tomorrow.

    Itinerary Image 1Itinerary Image 2Itinerary Image 3
  2. Day 2

    Bangkok

Start with a private boat tour through Bangkok's klongs, navigating the narrow canals to see local life and traditional wooden houses. You'll stop at Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn, where you can walk around the ornate spires and take photos from the riverside. After that, head to the Grand Palace complex, which takes up a large area with multiple palaces, halls, and courtyards to walk through. Later in the day, you'll reach Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, where the main attraction is the massive 49-foot-high gilded Buddha lying on its side. The temple also houses over 1,000 other Buddha images throughout the grounds, so there's plenty to see as you move through the different halls and courtyards.

  3. Day 3

    Bangkok

You have the full day to yourself in Bangkok. If you want structure, consider checking out the Jim Thompson House, a traditional teak mansion with an interesting collection of Southeast Asian art and antiques. Another option is taking a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River, which gives you views of illuminated temples and city landmarks while you eat. For something more active, head out to Damnoen Saduak floating market early in the morning when vendors are selling fresh produce, souvenirs, and local snacks from their boats. Otherwise, you can spend time in neighborhoods you haven't seen, try different restaurants, or just relax at your hotel.

  5. Day 5

    Chiang Mai

Travel outside Chiang Mai to Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary that started in the 1990s to care for rescued and orphaned elephants. You'll spend time watching these animals in natural surroundings and learning about their individual backgrounds and rescue stories. The park does work beyond just elephants, also running tree planting projects and providing shelter for other rescued animals on the grounds. There's a lunch break at the sanctuary so you can refuel before heading back to the city. The drive back to Chiang Mai takes a few hours, so you'll arrive in the evening.

    • Private guided tour of the rehabilitation center
    Landmarks

  6. Day 6

    Chiang Mai

Join a private guided tour through the walled old city to visit Wat Phra Singh, where you'll see an important Buddha statue housed in the temple. From there, head to Wat Doi Suthep, situated in the mountains above Chiang Mai. To reach the temple, you can either take a tram car up the mountain or climb the famous Naga staircase, which has over 300 dragon-headed steps leading to the temple grounds. After exploring the temple and its surroundings, you'll have the afternoon free to do what interests you. Options include attending a khantoke dance show with a traditional dinner, taking a cooking class to learn Thai cuisine, or wandering through the lively night market that opens in the evenings.
