Itinerary
- Day 1
Cape Town
You'll check in at Rovos Rail station in Cape Town starting at 2 pm, then board the luxury train around 4 pm. The journey heads inland through the Winelands as you settle in. Afternoon tea is served in the lounge and observation car, and you'll have dinner on board while traveling roughly 300 km. It's a relaxed start to your rail experience, so you can get comfortable with the train's setup and meet fellow passengers.

Karoo
The train pulls into Matjiesfontein around 8 am after breakfast on board. You'll have time to walk around this historic town center before the train continues through the Karoo semi-wilderness. Meals throughout the day (lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner) are served on the train as you cover about 500 km. Most of your day involves watching the landscape change while dining and relaxing in the observation areas.

Kimberley
After breakfast, you'll start your Kimberley tour at approximately 8:30 am with a visit to the former diamond mine. From there, you'll explore the town and see the Diamond Mining Museum and the 'Big Hole', the massive open pit left from mining operations. Lunch is served on the train during your journey toward Klerksdorp, where you'll travel about 550 km total. Most of the afternoon and evening you're back on the train covering more distance.

Your final morning features breakfast on board as the train travels through the north-eastern Goldfields, moving from Witwatersrand toward Pretoria. You'll arrive at Rovos Rail station Capital Park around 10 am, ending your luxury rail journey. Today's travel covers approximately 240 km. It's the shortest day of the trip, giving you time to pack and prepare for arrival before disembarking.
