  1. Day 1

    Uppsala

You'll arrive in Uppsala, Sweden's historic university city, and have time to explore the cathedral and old university quarter. The castle grounds feature botanical gardens, and if you're interested in botanical history, Carl von Linné's legacy is on display at the Linné Garden and Hammarby farm just outside the city. It's worth spending a few hours walking through these areas to get a feel for Uppsala's academic heritage and the natural world that shaped Sweden's scientific traditions.

After exploring there, you'll continue east to Värmdo, which serves as the gateway to Stockholm's archipelago. The drive takes you through landscapes with water views and rocky islands becoming more visible as you approach the coast, so you're starting to see what makes this region special.

You'll pass old manor houses and cafes set up in former barns, with occasional glimpses of the Baltic Sea. Once in Nykoping, explore the historic old town, check out the harbor district, and see the medieval castle that overlooks the area.

Customer Reviews

Overall, it was a very nice trip. We loved the restaurant in the Eishotel, the furniture in the warm room should be revised. The ice rooms are very nice. The arranged tour with reindeer feeding and sledging was a complete success. The tour guide was exceptionally good (especially his talent for storytelling). We also liked RIPAN Camp very much. Again, a really good restaurant and nice tours. We booked another tour riding Icelanders in search of moose as there was still plenty of time. The staff in both hotels are extremely friendly and the tour guides tell interesting stories about SAMI life.
