- Day 1
Uppsala
You'll arrive in Uppsala, Sweden's historic university city, and have time to explore the cathedral and old university quarter. The castle grounds feature botanical gardens, and if you're interested in botanical history, Carl von Linné's legacy is on display at the Linné Garden and Hammarby farm just outside the city. It's worth spending a few hours walking through these areas to get a feel for Uppsala's academic heritage and the natural world that shaped Sweden's scientific traditions.

- Day 2
Uppsala to Värmdo
Head south toward Mariefred, a charming lakeside town with cobbled streets and Gripsholm Castle sitting prominently above Lake Mälaren. After exploring there, you'll continue east to Värmdo, which serves as the gateway to Stockholm's archipelago. The drive takes you through landscapes with water views and rocky islands becoming more visible as you approach the coast, so you're starting to see what makes this region special.

- Day 3
Värmdo to Nyköping
The drive from Värmdo to Nykoping takes you through changing Swedish scenery, with small villages and forests giving way to lakes and fields as you move south toward the coast. You'll pass old manor houses and cafes set up in former barns, with occasional glimpses of the Baltic Sea. Once in Nykoping, explore the historic old town, check out the harbor district, and see the medieval castle that overlooks the area.

Nyköping to Stockholm
On the drive to Stockholm, stop in Trosa to walk its winding alleyways lined with pastel-colored wooden houses and grab coffee at a riverside cafe. Once in Stockholm, you'll have time to see different neighborhoods, each with its own character: Östermalm's upscale feel, Gamla Stan with its medieval streets and buildings, and Södermalm where you'll find bars, restaurants and independent shops that give the area its local energy.

- Day 5
Stockholm
Your 72-hour hop on-hop off ticket lets you explore Stockholm by bus and boat whenever it suits your schedule. You'll receive discount vouchers for shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and attractions around the city. Head to Djurgården, an island full of museums and cultural spaces that showcase Swedish heritage and natural attractions, so you can pick what interests you most.

Stockholm
Take a leisurely boat trip through the Stockholm archipelago on one of the classic ships, maybe the M/S Östan I from 1906, the S/S Stockholm from 1931, or the M/S Waxholm from 1903. Guides will explain the unique characteristics of Sweden's archipelago as you pass through untouched natural areas and between rocky islands. It's a relaxing way to see the landscape and get a sense of why this region is so distinct from the rest of the country.
