Itinerary
- Day 1
Keflavik to Reykjavik
You'll land at Keflavik and pick up your rental e-car, then drive across the lava fields of the Reykjanes peninsula. The drive takes about 50 minutes covering roughly 50 km, and you'll pass a geothermal power plant that feeds green energy to the region. Head to your accommodation in Reykjavik and settle in for the night.

- Day 2
Reykjavik to Borgarnes
Head through Borgarfjord to Reykholt, where the writer Snorri Sturluson lived centuries ago. From there, you'll reach Barnafoss and Hraunfossar waterfalls where water pours from the lava cliffs into a gorge. The setting is really something to see. After exploring, drive back to the Borgarnes area for the night.

- Day 3
Skagafjord Area
Drive north toward the Skagafjord region, a journey of about 260 km that takes around 3 hours. Stop in Hofsós, a fishing village on the eastern shore, where there's an emigration museum telling stories of Icelanders who moved to America. The village also has a swimming pool overlooking the fjord if you want to take a dip (optional).

Myvatn - Husavik Area
Start by visiting Lýtingsstadir farm where a German-Icelandic family talks about sustainable farming practices in Iceland. From there, head north on the Ring Road toward Lake Myvatn, covering about 200 km in roughly 2.5 hours. You can take a detour through the fjords via Siglufjarður and Dalvik if preferred, and there's a herring museum in Siglufjarður if that interests you. Stop in Akureyri to walk around the pedestrian area, then finish the day at Godafoss waterfall, one of Iceland's most beautiful sights.

- Day 5
Myvatn/Husavik
Explore the volcanic area around Lake Myvatn by hiking through the Dimmuborgir lava maze with its unusual rock shapes. Check out the 1984 Krafla eruption site which is still warm, and walk through the Skutustadir pseudo-craters. You can also drive the Diamond Circle route to see Asbyrgi and Dettifoss waterfall instead, or finish at the natural swimming pool Jardbodin if you want to soak.

- Day 6
Myvatn to Egilsstadir
Head south toward Egilsstadir and stop at Namaskard's colorful solfatar fields where the ground bubbles and steams. Drive through Iceland's sandy desert terrain, and consider taking the detour to Studlagil Canyon to see the basalt columns along the river. Arrive in the Egilsstadir and East Fjords area for the night.

Vatnajökull Area
Travel south through the East Fjords, passing several fishing villages along the way including Djúpivogur, which sits in a particularly nice setting. The drive covers about 250 km and takes roughly 3.5 hours as you follow the coastal route.

- Day 8
Vatnajökull to Eyjafjallajökull
Wake up to views of the massive Vatnajokull glacier in the distance. Stop at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon where bright blue ice blocks float in the water, then head to Skaftafell National Park for hiking. You can hike to Svartifoss waterfall with its black basalt columns, and various glacier hikes are available if you want something more challenging.

- Day 9
Golden Circle Area
Head south toward the Golden Circle region, covering around 250 km in about 3 hours. Shortly past Vik, detour to Reynisfjara, a black sand beach with unique basalt column cliffs. After that, stop at Skógafoss waterfall where rainbows often show up in the mist on clear days. Later, visit Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland's best waterfalls where you can actually walk behind the water (fair warning: you'll probably get wet doing this).

- Day 10
Golden Circle to Keflavik
Tour Iceland's three most famous attractions: start at Ljosafoss hydroelectric plant with its energy history exhibition, then visit Thingvellir National Park where Iceland's first parliament met. Check out Geysir's geothermal fields where Strokkur geyser erupts every 8-10 minutes, and see Gullfoss waterfall from different viewing points. Drive back to the Reykjanes peninsula and Keflavik for your final night.

Drive to Keflavik airport for your departure, about 10 km away taking roughly 15 minutes. Return your rental e-car and head out, or if you're extending your trip, you'll stay on in Iceland.
