Itinerary
- Day 1
Yogyakarta Arrival
You'll land at Yogyakarta airport on Java and your guide will meet you for the transfer to your hotel. After that, the day is open for whatever you'd like to do. Many people walk down Jalan Malioboro to browse the shops and grab souvenirs, or you could just head back and relax by the pool if you're tired from traveling.

- Day 2
Yogyakarta City Tour and Prambanan
This morning you'll take a city tour through Yogyakarta starting with the Kraton, the Sultan's Palace, and then the ruins of Taman Sari, an old moated castle. After that you'll wander through the traditional market, check out a batik factory, and stop by a silversmith's workshop to see craftspeople at work. In the afternoon, you'll head to the Prambanan temple complex to see the Hindu reliefs carved with scenes from the Ramayana. Back at your hotel, there's an optional Ramayana dance performance with dinner if you're interested.

Borobudur and Candirejo Village
You'll head out to Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple complex, and on the way pass by two smaller temples, Candi Mendut and Candi Pawon. Then it's on to Candirejo village surrounded by rainforest and green fields. You can explore by bicycle or carriage, getting a feel for how locals live there, watching how they make manioc chips, learning some gamelan music, or walking through the vegetable gardens. You'll have lunch right in the village before heading back to Yogyakarta.

- Day 4
Yogyakarta to Mount Bromo
After an early breakfast, you'll catch a train for about 3 hours heading to Mojokerto. Stop for lunch there, then visit Candi Gunung Gangsir, an 11th-century Hindu temple made from red bricks that not many tourists know about. From there it's roughly a 2.5-hour drive through changing terrain, past volcanic areas and plantations, heading toward Mount Bromo. You'll arrive in the late afternoon to settle in.

Mount Bromo Sunrise and Departure to Bali
Wake up around 4 a.m. and drive by off-road vehicle to Mt. Penanjakan to see the sunrise over Mount Bromo, the volcanic sand sea below, Mount Batok, and the active volcanoes Mount Bromo and Mount Nahameru. It's one of the trip's highlights. You'll head back after and have a relaxed breakfast, then transfer to the airport for your midday flight to Bali. Once you land, you'll go to your hotel in South Bali, arriving around 7:30 p.m.
