Itinerary
- Day 1
Venice to Cortina D'Ampezzo
You'll arrive at Venice Airport and pick up your rental car for the drive to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Once there, head to Piazza Roma and check out the Basilica Minore dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo. Take the Faloria cable car up for views across the mountain landscape, then grab lunch at a local osteria trying some regional specialties before settling in for the evening.

Cortina D'Ampezzo - Lake Braies

Stop by the Chapel of Maria on the southern shore, then find a spot to eat your picnic lunch by the lake before heading back to Cortina.

Following breakfast, drive to Rifugio Auronzo and hike the 10km loop trail around Tre Cime di Lavaredo. There's an alpine lake to see and a World War I chapel to visit before returning to Cortina that evening.

Cortina D'Ampezzo to Bolzano
Check out and head to Bolzano, where you'll see how Italian and Austrian cultures blend together. Walk through Piazza Walther and the Gothic Cathedral, then browse the medieval arcades on Via dei Portici. The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology has Ötzi the Iceman on display, and you can check out local markets and churches before dinner with traditional South Tyrolean food.

Bolzano - Merano and Trauttmasdorff Castle
After breakfast, you'll head to Merano to see its medieval buildings in pastel colors and local boutiques. The Art Noveau Kurhaus is worth a look, and Therme Merano spa is there if you want to relax. Walk the Tappeiner Promenade for mountain views, visit St. Nicholas Church and the market, then spend time at Trauttmasdorff Castle exploring its botanical gardens before driving back to Bolzano.

Bolzano - South Tyrolean Wine Road
After breakfast, you'll drive the South Tyrolean Wine Road through rolling hills and vineyards, traveling about 70km past over 20 wineries. Stop at several for tastings of regional wines, check out medieval Appiano Castle with vineyard views, and walk through the market town of Egna. Pick up wine and local products to take with you before returning to Bolzano for the night.
