Itinerary
- Day 1
Airport to Trincomalee
You'll arrive at the airport where someone meets you for the drive to Trincomalee, which takes around 4 hours and 30 minutes. On the way, you'll stop at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to see rescued elephants up close. After that comes a spice garden where you can learn about cinnamon, pepper, cardamom, and other local spices. Following lunch, you'll check into your Trincomalee hotel, then head to the ancient Koneashwaram Temple as the sun sets.

Trincomalee to Sigiriya
Early start this morning with check-in at 5:45am for a 6am boat tour to watch dolphins and whales. You'll spend roughly 3 hours on the water and have a solid chance of spotting either whales or dolphins. If you're interested, scuba diving and snorkeling options exist at spots like Swami Rock and Navy Island. The evening is free to relax on the beach before heading to Sigiriya for the night.

Trincomalee to Sigiriya
After breakfast, you'll leave at 9am for the 2-hour drive to Sigiriya. The day includes a village experience with a bullock cart ride, catamaran safari, visits to local farms called chena, and lunch cooked in a traditional village kitchen. Once you check into your Sigiriya hotel, at 5pm you'll head out to climb Pidurangala Rock to watch the sunset over Sigiriya Rock.

Sigiriya to Kandy
Start at 6am to explore Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll climb through the lion-mouth entrance and see ancient Buddha frescoes within the rock fortress. Back at the hotel for breakfast, then at 10am you'll leave for the 3-hour drive to Kandy, stopping at the Golden Cave Temple in Dambulla along the way to see over 150 Buddha statues and Buddhist murals from the 5th-13th century. After lunch in Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic at 6pm.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Breakfast first, then at 9:30am you'll tour Kandy city, checking out Kandy Lake, batik factories, wood carving studios, and a gem museum. Next comes a 3-hour drive toward Nuwara Eliya with a stop at Ambuluwawa Tower, sitting at 3,567 feet elevation as a biodiversity complex and Sri Lanka's first multi-religious sanctuary. You'll also visit Hanuman Temple and a tea factory to see how tea is produced, then enjoy refreshments at Ramboda Waterfall before arriving in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya to Ella by Train
After breakfast, explore Nuwara Eliya, known locally as 'The Little England' for its British buildings, and visit Sita Amman Temple. From there, head to Nanu Oya railway station to take one of the world's most scenic train rides to Ella, about 4 hours long. The views of tea plantations, forests, and mountains from your window are the main attraction. Upon arrival in Ella, someone will pick you up and drive you to your hotel.

Ella
Wake early to catch the sunrise in Ella. You'll have breakfast at 9am, then the day is yours to explore. In the afternoon, you'll drive about 2 hours 30 minutes to Yala National Park for a jeep safari where you might see leopards, Asian elephants, sambar deer, crocodiles, buffalo, and sloth bears.

Yala to Bentota
After breakfast at 9am, you'll drive roughly 4.5 hours from Yala to Bentota. The route includes stops at Mirissa Beach, the historic Galle Dutch Fort where the Portuguese landed in 1505 and the Dutch fortified it later in the 17th century, and the popular swing rope at Dalawella Beach attached to a palm tree over the water. You'll arrive in Bentota for your overnight stay.

Bentota
After breakfast, you'll visit the Turtle Hatchery to learn about how endangered sea turtles are conserved and protected along Sri Lanka's southern coast. Next is a boat safari on Madu River through mangroves and islands where you'll see hundreds of plant and animal species in the coastal ecosystem. The safari includes a traditional fish foot massage. The rest of the day is free to spend at your hotel.

Bentota to Colombo (Departure)
You'll drive to Colombo after breakfast, taking roughly 1.5 hours. In the afternoon, explore Colombo's busy city center visiting landmarks like Gangarama Temple, Seema Malikaya, Lotus Tower, the Municipal Council building, and Galle Face Green. Shopping spots include Odel, Liberty Plaza, Majestic City, and One Gall Face. Your driver will then take you to the international airport in time for your flight (exact timing depends on your departure).
