Itinerary
- Day 1
Moshi
You'll land in Moshi and get transferred to your hotel at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend the day resting and letting your body adjust to the altitude. Wander around town if you feel up to it, check your climbing gear, and make sure everything's ready. Later, you'll meet the guides and climbing team who'll go over what to expect on the trek ahead.

Landmarks/POIs Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 2
Moshi to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, you'll head to Marangu Gate where you'll register and start the trek. The trail takes you through thick rainforest that's lush and green, following a well-kept path that climbs gradually. You'll see all kinds of plants and animals as you hike for about 4 to 5 hours before reaching Mandara Hut at 2,700m/8,858ft.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
You continue from Mandara after eating, and the forest gradually opens up into moorland. The landscape shifts to grasslands with unusual plants like giant lobelias scattered around. From there, the views get more dramatic as you get closer to the mountain. Around 5 to 6 hours of hiking brings you to Horombo Hut at 3,720m/12,205ft, where the views across the landscape are really something.

Landmarks/POIs Horombo Hut - Day 4
Horombo Hut Acclimatization Day
Today you stay put at Horombo Hut and focus on acclimatization. There are optional shorter hikes to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Tarn if you want to get moving, and both spots offer good views. These walks help your body handle the higher altitude and can reduce the chance of altitude sickness. You'll spend another night at the hut and take it easy.

Landmarks/POIs Zebra Rocks Mawenzi Tarn - Day 5
Horombo Hut to Uhuru Peak
The summit push starts around midnight from Kibo Hut. You'll climb about 4km on a route that gets steeper and harder as you go, especially the final stretch called the 'Uhuru Peak Shuffle'. The hike takes 6 to 8 hours, and you'll reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895m/19,341ft just as sunrise happens. It's the highest point in Africa and the goal of your whole trip.

Landmarks/POIs Kibo Hut Uhuru Peak - Day 6
Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
After spending time at Uhuru Peak and taking in what you've done, you'll start heading down to Kibo Hut for a brief break. Then you continue descending to Horombo Hut at 3,720m/12,205ft where you'll sleep one more night on the mountain before dropping to lower elevations and heading back down.
