Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bogotá

You'll land in Bogotá and settle into your hotel as evening approaches. The city sits at 2,640 meters above sea level, so the mountain air feels noticeably different from lower elevations. After checking in, head out to explore neighborhoods like Chapinero or Zona G, where you'll find cozy cafés and good restaurants for dinner. Take your time wandering around and getting oriented to the capital's layout and local vibe.

    Bogotá

Start early and make your way up to Monserrate, which reaches 3,152 meters and offers panoramic views of Bogotá surrounded by the Andes. You'll visit the colonial church at the top, then head back down to explore Paloquemao Market with a local guide. This market is where you'll see tropical fruits, flowers, and all kinds of Colombian products while learning how food shapes community life here.

You'll ride along the Ciclovía routes, check out cultural murals, stop at coffee spots, and get a real feel for how locals move around the city. This active approach gives you a different perspective on the capital than you'd get from a car or on foot.

While receiving a finalized schedule was a bit delayed, all of our transport smooth and organized, our local guide Roberto was friendly and knowledgeable, and each day’s featured excursions ended up being the source of core memories for our trip. I’m grateful for Responsible Travel South America’s responsive nature to answering any questions or concerns that we had, and for helping to make planning our time in Cartagena a bit easier!

We had a great trip to Peru and Equator Aoril ~May of 2025. Everything was arranged according to what was stated and planned- all pickups be it at the airport or for the day trips were on time. We had great tour guides. My only suggestion would be better rooms in some of the hotels that were picked- in two of the hotels we got rooms where they could have done better- Guayaquil and Cusco being the two places. Shout out to our tour planner Ronnie- did a great job and was very responsive- thanks!
