Itinerary
- Day 1
Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha
You'll arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and get picked up for the drive to Arusha, with a scenic stop along the way to see Mount Kilimanjaro. If your flight gets in early, there's time for a guided tour of Arusha city where you can check out historical sites, walk through local markets, and look at art galleries.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park to Karatu
After breakfast, you'll drive about 1 hour 30 minutes to Tarangire National Park for a full day of wildlife viewing. During the game drives you'll spot lions, elephants and other animals, then break for a hot lunch at a picnic site. Later in the afternoon you'll head to Karatu for dinner and to spend the night.

Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater to Central Serengeti
Breakfast is at 6:45 AM before driving to Ngorongoro Crater, then you'll descend to the crater floor for wildlife viewing in this unique sunken ecosystem. You'll see hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos and hippos during your time there. At 2:00 PM you'll leave for Central Serengeti, arriving in time for dinner and overnight.

Central Serengeti
After breakfast, you have the full day for game drives searching for the great migration. During this season, animals typically stay in the central area of the Serengeti and gradually move toward the western section. The northern Serengeti isn't recommended right now since wildlife numbers are lower there.

Central Serengeti to Karatu
You'll do a morning game drive in Central Serengeti after breakfast, then have a picnic lunch before driving to Karatu for dinner and overnight. This area has excellent wildlife populations and frequent big cat sightings, with the iconic acacia trees and wide Serengeti horizons you're looking for.

Karatu to Lake Manyara to Arusha
After breakfast, you'll drive to Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch packed for the day. This compact park features the towering Rift Valley escarpment, lots of baboons and elephants in thick evergreen forest, and the famous tree-climbing lions. There's excellent birdlife throughout the park as well.

Arusha to Zanzibar
You can sleep in and have breakfast at the hotel. After that, you'll take a town tour and have lunch at a local restaurant in Arusha. Then you'll transfer to Arusha Airport for your 1:00 PM flight to Zanzibar.

Zanzibar Beach Relaxation
You have the full day to relax at the Zanzibar beach if that appeals to you. Or if you'd rather, you can explore Stone Town instead, which is the cultural and historical center of the island. There you'll find narrow streets, interesting architecture, restaurants, churches, markets and gardens to wander through.
