Itinerary
- Day 1
Hanoi to Nghia Lo
You'll leave Hanoi early and ride about 220 km on motorbike towards Nghia Lo. The route takes you through rural countryside with nice views along the way. Stop at Long Coc tea hill in Phu Tho Province, which is one of Vietnam's better-known tea plantations where you can walk around and see how they grow tea on the hillside. Once you reach Nghia Lo, check into your hotel and have the rest of the afternoon and evening free. This is a good time to wander through local markets, grab some food at small eateries, and chat with people you meet around town.

Nghia Lo to Ta Xua
Start before sunrise and head out on 140 km of winding mountain roads toward Tram Tau district. Along the way, you'll stop at natural hot springs (there's a small entry fee) where you can soak and stretch after riding. From there, continue on to Ta Xua peak, a mountainous area known for dramatic landscape views and the 'sea of clouds' effect that shows up in early morning or after rain. Spend the rest of your day exploring the area and taking in the scenery around the peak.

Ta Xua to Mu Cang Chai
You'll ride early along the Dinosaur Spine scenic road, which offers panoramic views of mountains and valleys stretching out around you. After breakfast, leave Ta Xua and head 190 km toward Mu Cang Chai, riding through valleys with terraced rice fields. This route passes through Khau Pha pass and Tu Le commune on the way. When you arrive in Mu Cang Chai, a national landscape heritage site, spend time walking through local villages to learn how people live there and understand the local culture and farming practices.

- Day 4
Mu Cang Chai to Ngoc Chien
Start the day exploring Mu Cang Chai's terraced rice fields, checking out spots like Mam Xoi, Mong Ngua, and La Pan Tan. You'll have plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos of the layered fields. Then ride about 60 km on winding mountain roads to reach Ngoc Chien. After checking in at your accommodation, relax at the natural hot spring in the area. Spend the afternoon walking around nearby villages and spending time with the locals who live there.

Ngoc Chien to Tuan Giao
Head out early and travel 170 km toward Tuan Giao. You'll pass Ban Tham Cave and see coffee plantations scattered across the landscape. The real highlight comes when you ride through Pha Din Pass, known locally as 'heaven and earth' for its dramatic scenery with rugged mountains, deep valleys, and tight winding roads. Along the way, you'll come across historical remnants from the Indochina War, including old bunkers and memorials. By evening, you'll arrive in Tuan Giao, which sits in a green valley, and can explore the town.

Tuan Giao to Sin Ho
Leave Tuan Giao and ride 160 km toward Muong Lay through nice landscapes where you'll see Thai, H'Mong, and Kho Mu communities going about their daily lives. Stop for lunch in Muong Lay Village near the Da River. After that, continue riding to Sin Ho, a remote mountain town surrounded by tall mountains, thick forests, and terraced rice fields. Red Dao, H'Mong, and Thai people live in this area, and you'll see their villages and traditional houses as you arrive.

Sin Ho to Sapa
Leave Sin Ho and ride 130 km toward Lai Chau on winding mountain roads with great views the entire way. You'll cross the O Quy Ho Pass, which is one of Vietnam's most well-known scenic mountain passes with sharp turns and panoramic vistas. After crossing over, you'll continue to Sapa, a popular tourist town known for terraced rice fields and ethnic minority villages. Check into your hotel in Sapa town for the night.

- Day 8
Sapa
Spend your full day on motorbike exploring around Sapa. Start early and head to Cat Cat Village where Black H'Mong people live, then continue to Lao Chai and Ta Van Villages. Grab lunch at a local restaurant in Ta Van or at a scenic spot overlooking the valley. Ride through Muong Hoa Valley where you'll see terraced rice fields, waterfalls, and green hills all around. Try to visit smaller villages like Ban Ho or Ta Phin to see Red Dao communities and get a feel for how life is in these more remote areas. Head back into Sapa by late afternoon.

Sapa to Thac Ba Lake
Leave Sapa and ride 180 km through the countryside to reach Thac Ba Lake in Yen Bai Province. This large man-made lake has clear turquoise water surrounded by mountains and forests with small islands dotting the surface. Once you arrive, take a boat trip across the lake to explore the quiet waters and visit floating villages where families live on the water. After the boat tour, you'll have an authentic dinner prepared by a local family at their homestay where you'll spend the night.

- Day 10
Thac Ba Lake to Hanoi
You'll begin your ride back to Hanoi from Thac Ba Lake, covering about 180 km through rural areas and countryside with nice views. Take breaks along the route to rest, grab water, and just look around at the landscape. By the end of the day, you'll be back in Hanoi where your motorbike tour comes to an end.
