Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to York
You'll leave Edinburgh this morning heading south along the East Lothian coast toward Berwick-upon-Tweed, that walled border town sitting right between England and Scotland. From there, the route takes you to Bamburgh Castle, a 1,400-year-old fortress that dominates the Northumberland coastline and happens to be one of the UK's largest inhabited castles. Later you'll continue on to York, an ancient walled city layered with Roman and Viking history, where you'll spend the night.

- Day 2
York
York offers flexibility today. You can explore on your own, wandering through museums and along the historic city walls to discover the Roman, Viking and Norman heritage, plus plenty of cafes and restaurants for meals. Or if you prefer a guided experience, there's an optional half-day excursion into North York Moors National Park that takes you to Whitby and the fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay before returning to York for the evening.

York to Keswick
Leaving York this morning, you'll head west into Yorkshire Dales National Park, known for its wildlife and cultural heritage. The route passes through the Northern Dales with rolling hills and natural landscape before reaching Keswick, a market town in the Lake District surrounded by lakes and rugged peaks.

- Day 4
Keswick
Your day starts at Castlerigg, an ancient standing stone circle over 5,000 years old. Then you'll see Ullswater, one of the UK's prettiest lakes, with time for walks and photos. Next comes Aira Force Waterfall, followed by Windermere on the UK's largest lake where an included cruise and lunch are part of the plan. From there you'll visit Hawkshead, where poet William Wordsworth went to school, then Grasmere to see Dove Cottage and its gardens. You'll return to Keswick by evening.

- Day 5
Keswick to Edinburgh
You'll climb Hartside Pass this morning for views across the Lake District and into Scotland from over 1,900 feet. Then comes Hadrian's Wall, the Roman fortress from 122 AD, where you can walk the same paths as Roman centurions and visit the Roman Army Museum. After crossing into Scotland, you'll stop at Jedburgh to see its ruined abbey, then visit Scott's View for panoramic vistas over the River Tweed and Cheviot Hills marking the border. Your journey concludes in Edinburgh where the tour ends.
