Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Oban
You'll leave Edinburgh early and head west through Scotland's landscape, passing Stirling Castle along the way. The route takes you through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, where there's time to take in the scenery. After that, you'll stop in Inveraray, a whitewashed town worth a walk around, then continue on to Oban on the coast. This town is known for its whisky and fresh seafood, so there's a good chance to grab dinner or explore the harbor before the day ends.

Mull - Iona - Oban
An early ferry gets you from Oban to the Isle of Mull, where you'll keep watch for white-tailed eagles along the dramatic coastlines. From there, another ferry takes you to Iona, an island significant to Celtic Christianity. You can walk through the historic abbey and see the ancient burial grounds. There's an optional small boat trip to Staffa if conditions allow, where you'll see the basalt columns of Fingal's Cave. By late afternoon, the ferries bring you back to Oban.

Oban to Balmacara
Heading north along the coast, you'll start with a stop at Glencoe, a location with both natural drama and historical weight. From there, the route passes Fort William and Ben Nevis, the UK's tallest peak. You'll drive through glens and past lochs with plenty of spots to stop for photos. Later in the day, you'll reach Balmacara, passing the Five Sisters of Kintail and Eilean Donan Castle along the way. Your evening is free to explore local trails, check out the Balmacara Estate, or find a pub for dinner.

Isle of Skye - Balmacara
The Isle of Skye's itinerary shifts based on weather and what's happening that day, so your guide will choose the best route once you arrive. You might hike The Quiraing or tackle the Old Man of Storr Walk, both known throughout the island for their views. Alternatively, there's a visit to Neist Point Lighthouse. The day centers on walking through the landscape and taking in what makes Skye special. You'll head back toward Balmacara by late afternoon.

Balmacara to Edinburgh
You'll start by visiting Eilean Donan Castle, a 13th-century fortress sitting on an island that's worth the time to explore. From there, the drive takes you through Loch Duich and past the Five Sisters of Kintail. Lunch happens at Loch Ness, giving you a chance to look for the famous creature while eating. After that, you'll drive through the Grampian Mountains and past Loch Laggan, stopping briefly at Dalwhinnie, which sits higher than any other whisky distillery in Scotland. One more stop for refreshments and then the route heads back to Edinburgh, where the tour wraps up.
