- Day 1
Lima
After you arrive at Lima airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel and meet your leader at 2 pm. Spend the afternoon walking through downtown Lima with your guide, stopping at Plaza Mayor and checking out the catacombs at Saint Francis Monastery. Later, head to Alameda de Chabuca Granda to try local street food including Peruvian doughnuts and mazamorra morada. Dinner is at one of the city's best restaurants with views overlooking ancient ruins.

- Day 2
Lima to Puerto Maldonado to Amazon Rainforest
You'll fly from Lima to Puerto Maldonado and board motorised canoes heading into the Amazon rainforest, looking for macaws, herons, alligators and capybaras along the way. After arriving at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion your home for two nights within a 380-hectare private ecological reserve you'll have lunch and then walk the Concepcion Trails with a guide. Later, take a twilight river boat ride spotting caimans before dinner featuring local Amazon ingredients.

Amazon Rainforest
Start with breakfast before boarding a dug-out wooden canoe across Lake Sandoval to spot red howler monkeys, giant river otters and macaws. After lunch, you have the option to walk the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a 344m suspension bridge network high above the forest for seeing toucans, woodpeckers, monkeys and sloths. By evening, gather around an Amazon bonfire for drinks and jungle stories with a local guide, then choose a night walk to see nocturnal activity or visit the lodge spa before dinner with your group.

Amazon to Cusco
Travel back to Puerto Maldonado and fly to Cusco, arriving early afternoon. Meet your leader for a walk through the city, visiting Plaza de Armas and the UNESCO World Heritage Cusco Cathedral built on top of an Inca palace. A local historian guide explains the art and architecture, then you'll see the Coricancha Temple, once the most important in the Inca Empire. The evening is free to check out Cusco's restaurants and live music scene.

- Day 5
Cusco
This day is yours to explore Cusco at your own pace. Stop by San Pedro market to practice bargaining and take photos, then swing back to Plaza de Armas for another look at the cathedral. Your leader can arrange optional activities including a cooking class at a local restaurant using fair trade products, a half-day trek exploring an archaeological site on the city's outskirts, or visit the fortress of Sacsayhuaman to see impressive Inca engineering in the massive stone walls.

Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo
Travel through the Sacred Valley passing maize crops and terraced hillsides to Ollantaytambo. Stop at AMA Restaurant in Urubamba, a social enterprise providing employment for single mothers, for a snack and to learn about their work. Meet the Willoq community and learn about traditional textile techniques at a local workshop where you'll make your own bracelet. Have a festive pachamanca lunch, then reach Ollantaytambo and explore its archaeological site with an expert guide discussing Inca engineering.

- Day 7
Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu
Board the 360 Machu Picchu Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, enjoying Andes views through high domed windows and from the open-air observation carriage. Drop your belongings at the hotel, then take a short bus ride to Machu Picchu where your guide will take you through the ruins and share stories about this Seven Wonders site, its purpose and 15th-century history under Emperor Pachacuti. Take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for the night.

Machu Picchu to Cusco
Rise before dawn and return to Machu Picchu for a second visit, exploring more of the temples, palaces and living quarters. Take in the views of Machu Picchu against forested mountain backdrops and notice the mortar-free, earthquake-resistant design with precision-cut stones so fine that not even a knife fits between them. Take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, catch a train back to Ollantaytambo, then drive back to Cusco for the evening.

Cusco to Lima
Fly from Cusco to Lima in the afternoon and spend the night there. In the morning, depart Peru and head to Chile for the next stage of your adventure.

You'll fly from Lima to Santiago and be met at the airport for a transfer to your accommodation. Attend a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you arrive early, wander through Parque Forestal just steps away from your hotel. After the meeting, head out for dinner with your leader and group featuring hearty Chilean cuisine including baked casseroles and razor clams in parmesan cheese.

Get to know Santiago on a guided tour starting in the artistic Lastarria district with charming neighbourhoods and vibrant public spaces. Walk to Santa Lucia Hill where Santiago was founded for panoramic city views. Pass La Moneda Palace, an ornate neoclassical presidential building, then reach Plaza de Armas. Visit Parque Forestal and Bellavista, a mix of street art and bohemian atmosphere. Finish with lunch at Bocanáriz, a top local restaurant for Chilean wine. The rest of the day is free.

Begin your journey to Valparaiso with a wine tasting stop in Casablanca Valley, Chile's fastest-growing wine region. Visit a sustainable organic vineyard, then continue to Valparaiso, known for brightly hued houses spread across hills overlooking the ocean. Check into your Feature Stay, a historic 1885 hotel from the shipping boom decorated with Chilean artists' work. Enjoy an introduction to pisco on the rooftop with views.

Board a private boat to navigate the Paraná Delta, the world's third largest, and discover how local islanders have transformed the swampy terrain into a thriving community.
