Vancouver
You'll board MS Roald Amundsen in Vancouver and get your cabin situated, then take time to walk around the ship and learn how everything works. After the mandatory safety briefing, you'll meet the Expedition Team members who'll be guiding you through Alaska. Dinner that evening officially kicks off your journey.

Inside Passage Cruise
Sailing through the Inside Passage means traveling 930 miles along a protected coastal route through North American Pacific fjordland. Your smaller ship can access channels that bigger cruise vessels can't reach, so keep your camera handy for whales like humpback, fin, minke, and possibly orca as they move through the waters.

Misty Fjords
You'll head into Misty Fjords, a remote wilderness area within Tongass National Forest with evergreens, waterfalls, and snowcapped peaks. Weather allowing, the Expedition Team takes you out in small boats or kayaks where you can watch for mountain goats, black and brown bears, moose, Pacific salmon, otters, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, and Dall's porpoises.

Wrangell
Wrangell, one of Alaska's oldest harbor towns, sits just a mile from Petroglyph Beach where you can see ancient rock carvings. The local museum tells the story of how British, Russian, and Tlingit peoples shaped the town. After that, head to Shakes Island to see the Chief Shakes Tribal House and totem poles. Optional hiking trails run along the Stikine River mouth and up Mount Dewey.

Sitka
Sitka can only be reached by sea or air, and it sits surrounded by Tongass National Forest. From the deck, you'll see the Sisters Mountains and Mount Edgecumbe volcano. On shore, check out the Russian Orthodox cathedral and Russian Bishop's House to understand how Tlingit, Russian, and American influences blended here. Haida and Tlingit totem poles fill Sitka National Historical Park, and forest trails lead down to the ocean.

Icy Bay
Icy Bay is where you'll spend the day watching three glaciers, Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall, that regularly calve into the water. Weather permitting, small expedition boats and kayaks get you out to see humpback whales, orcas, Steller sea lions, sea otters, and harbor seals resting on floating ice.

Cruise Days at Sea
Today's a sea day cruising the Gulf of Alaska, so you can relax and use the infinity pool, hot tubs, sauna, gym, or running track. Head to the Science Centre for expert lectures covering Alaska's wildlife, geology, glaciology, history, and culture. Later, settle into the Explorer Lounge and Bar with other guests while scanning for the three species of North Pacific albatross overhead.

Kodiak Island
Kodiak Island, the second-largest in the US, is home to roughly 3,500 Kodiak brown bears in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. From your small expedition boat, you'll search for these powerful animals in their natural setting, watching them move through spruce forests and grasslands that earned the island its 'Emerald Isle' nickname.

Katmai National Park
Katmai National Park spans four million acres and holds the world's largest concentration of brown bears, over 2,000 of them living in this wilderness. With an experienced bear guard alongside you, scout from the deck or small expedition boats as the bears look for berries, dig for clams, or fish. Landing spots might include Geographic Harbor, Kinak Bay, or Kukak Bay depending on conditions.

Alaska Peninsula
The Alaska Peninsula is untamed wilderness with raw coastal landscapes, towering mountains, and secluded bays. Your Expedition Team explores hidden bays and inlets along the shoreline where you can look for bears, Bald Eagles, sea otters, and humpback whales. The Team also shares how geological forces have shaped this region's unique topography.

Unga Village
Unga Village, at the southern end of Unga Island, is an abandoned settlement where Aleuts settled in 1833 but left in 1969 when subsistence fishing couldn't sustain it. Weathered wooden buildings sit among pink lousewort, fireweed, and wildflowers as nature slowly reclaims the place. You'll reach it by small expedition boat for a nature landing.

Dutch Harbor
Dutch Harbor is America's largest fishing port with dramatic views of Mount Makushin volcano reaching nearly 6,000 feet. Stop by the Museum of the Aleutians to learn about the Indigenous Unungan people, or visit the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. The WWII museum covers the 1942 battle, and you can scout for Bald Eagles and puffins on land plus whales, sea lions, and porpoises in the water. The harbor's famous from the TV series The Deadliest Catch.

Cruise Days at Sea
Take a relaxing day to reflect during the cruise, sitting back to watch panoramic views from the Explorer Lounge and Bar, infinity pool, or outdoor hot tubs. Scan the shores, seas, and skies for puffins, auklets, murrelets, and the rare Red-legged Kittiwake only found in this part of the world. The Expedition Team offers Science Centre sessions on the region's geography, climate, and birdlife.

St. Paul Island
St. Paul, the largest Pribilof Island, has around 480 Unangan people and is designated an Important Bird Area. Explore traditional barabaras, dwellings built half-underground for protection from sea winds. About 300 migrating bird species rest here, so watch for Horned and Tufted Puffins, the Pribilof Sandpiper, and rare Red-legged Kittiwakes. On shore, spot northern fur seals, and half the world's population lives on these islands.

St. Matthew Island
St. Matthew Island sits wild and isolated 200 miles from the nearest village as part of Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. Few people have attempted to settle this remote spot, but traces of abandoned buildings remain between black sand beaches and wildflower-dotted tundra. Today only birds call it home, thousands of puffins, murres, and cormorants. Your nature landing might reveal the rare McKay's Bunting that breeds almost exclusively here.

Cruise Days at Sea
Cruising the Bering Sea with Russia to the west and the US to the east, keep watch for humpback whales and seabirds wheeling through the skies. This is your last full sea day, so relax and soak in your time on board. The Expedition Team recaps your Alaskan adventure highlights, and you can continue exploring in the Science Centre.

Nome to Seattle
Nome is where the Gold Rush started in 1898, and people still hunt for gold today. See abandoned dredges, turn-of-the-century steam engines, and old railroad tracks that give the town a distinctive character. Nome was also the end point of three Roald Amundsen polar expeditions, including his 1926 air attempt at the North Pole. You'll disembark MS Roald Amundsen and fly to Seattle for an overnight stay.

Seattle
Your Alaskan adventure wraps up in Seattle. If there's time before your onward journey, stop by the Seattle Aquarium to see sea otters and a giant Pacific octopus, or walk through the nine-acre Olympic Sculpture Park for views of Puget Sound and surrounding mountains with artwork from well-known artists. Pike Place Market, open for over a century, has buskers, bars, and fishmongers throwing salmon.
