Buenos Aires
You'll arrive in Buenos Aires and get settled into your hotel. After that, head out to see the city's architecture starting with Teatro Colón opera house, the pink Casa Rosada, and the National Museum of Fine Arts. From there, walk through La Boca district where you'll find colorful street art, lively markets, and restaurants everywhere. If you're interested, you can catch a tango show in the evening or try some Argentine beef at a local steakhouse for dinner.

Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
An early morning flight takes you from Buenos Aires down to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Once you land, a transfer gets you to the MS Roald Amundsen. You'll collect your expedition jacket, meet the Expedition Team, and explore the hybrid-powered vessel. Later you'll settle into your cabin and have your first meal onboard.

Landmarks/POIs Ushuaia - Day 3
Cape Horn
The cruise heads through the Beagle Channel with dramatic rocky walls dropping straight into icy water. From there, you sail south toward Cape Horn where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans meet, creating powerful swirling waves. Keep watch for Peale's dolphins and other wildlife. If the weather cooperates, you'll attempt to land at Cape Horn and explore this significant seafaring location.

Puerto Williams
You'll reach Puerto Williams, another contender for the world's southernmost city. The Martin Gusinde Anthropological Museum has indigenous Yahgan artifacts, maps, and photographs, including a replica of the Yelcho's bow that rescued Shackleton's men in 1916. There's hiking through scenic landscape or kayaking if weather permits. Bring binoculars for spotting seabirds and albatross in the area.

Garibaldi Glacier
You'll cruise through Garibaldi Fjord in Alberto de Agostini National Park, traveling up to Garibaldi Glacier where the Andes tumble into the Pacific. Weather permitting, you reach the glacier at the fjord's head, one of Chile's most impressive glaciers with ice breaking off into the water. The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve waters here have seals, sea lions, seabirds, and the impressive Andean Condor.

Magellan Strait
The ship sails north along the Chilean coast through the Magellan Strait, moving through a maze of fjords surrounded by islands, glaciers, and steep mountains. During the day, join the Expedition Team for lectures on pre-Columbian history, local geology, and community folklore. Watch for elephant seals, dolphins, and whales. The onboard photographer will help capture the wildlife and landscapes.

Torres del Paine
You'll arrive in Puerto Natales and stay for the night. This adventure hub has options to hike in Torres del Paine National Park, a rugged landscape with steppe, forest, desert, glaciers, and lakes where guanacos, rheas, pumas, Chilean flamingos, and Andean condors live. You can also visit the artisan village at Etherh Aike, tour the Last Hope Distillery, or walk the waterfront with eateries and outdoor shops.

Pio XI Glacier
You'll cruise through Eyre Fjord toward Pio XI Glacier in Bernardo O'Higgins National Park. The forests and waters offer excellent wildlife spotting for sea lions, dolphins, and terns. This glacier is the longest in the Southern Hemisphere outside Antarctica and is unique because it grows up to 50 meters daily while others shrink. Weather permitting, expedition boats launch for a closer view as ice calves into the water.

Puerto Edén
You'll visit Puerto Edén, a village accessible only by sea and set at the end of a deep fjord in Bernardo O'Higgins National Park. The tiny community of 250 residents connects via wooden boardwalks instead of roads. You'll meet some of the last remaining members of the indigenous Kawéska people, designated a Living Human Treasure by UNESCO, and learn about Patagonian culture.

Caleta Tortel
You'll reach remote Caleta Tortel at the mouth of Rio Baker, Chile's largest river. This village of 500 people connects through wooden boardwalks over water and around the mountain rather than streets. Weather permitting, you can explore the milky blue waters by kayak. There's also the option to tour the village with a local guide, watch folk dancer performances, shop for local handicrafts, and learn about the area's history.

Return to Puerto Natales
The cruise heads south toward Puerto Natales, the capital of Última Esperanza. The iceberg-studded waters of Patagonia show different shades of blue from bright aquamarine to deep midnight. Watch for whales, seabirds, and penguins. You can relax in the panoramic sauna, on-deck hot tubs, or pool while eating locally sourced cuisine. The Expedition Team gives lectures on local history and wildlife, with photography tips for landscapes.

Castro, Chiloé
You'll visit Castro on Chiloé Island, Chile's third oldest city with two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Iglesia San Francisco and Iglesia de Señora de Gracia de Nercón. Photograph the city's colorful palafitos (stilt houses) along the waterfront from nearby hills. Check out the Regional Museum and Museum of Modern Art. If interested, hike into nearby Chiloé National Park with its Valdivian rainforest, spotting sea lions, seabirds, and whales.

You'll come ashore at Niebla, a seaside town on a peninsula with views of Corral Bay and the Valdivia River. Stroll the wide sandy beach and if the Feria Costumbrista market is open, try traditional empanadas, antichuchos, and churros. Explore the ruins of the old Spanish fort and visit its museum to learn about the region's history. Wander around the lighthouse and rusted cannons while enjoying views across the river and bay.

At Sea to Valparaíso
Your final day at sea brings the ship along the Pacific coast toward Valparaíso. Spend time scanning for seabirds and whales in these waters. Relax in the pool, sauna, or spa, and join the Expedition Team for a recap of your Patagonian experiences. Visit the Science Center to ask final questions about wildlife and landscape observations, or help finish any Citizen Science projects.

Valparaíso
Your South American Pacific Coast expedition ends in Valparaíso, known as the Jewel of the Pacific. Built on steep hillsides overlooking the ocean, this UNESCO-listed city has winding alleyways, colorful houses, and lively markets full of local produce. Ride the funicular up to Cerro Alegre and Concepción neighborhoods for city views. If you want more adventures, an optional Post-Program includes a tour to Easter Island and Rapa Nui National Park.
