Athens to Delphi to Arachova to Kalambaka
Your hotel pickup happens early morning in Athens, then you'll drive out to Delphi where the ancient site unfolds across the mountainside. Start at the Temple of Apollo and work your way through the theater and stadium, checking out the museum to get the full picture of what this religious center meant in ancient times. By mid-morning you'll head to Arachova, a whitewashed village clinging to the hillside where you can grab lunch at a local taverna and browse shops if you want. Later in the day you'll make your way toward Kalambaka, and you'll time it so you catch the sunset lighting up those massive rock formations at Meteora before settling in for the night.

After breakfast you'll head up to visit Varlaam Monastery, a 16th-century structure sitting 380m up on rock that seems to defy gravity, then move on to Great Meteoron, the largest and oldest monastery from the 14th century. Both give you a real sense of why monks chose these isolated heights.
