Lima
Land at Lima airport and head to your hotel by car for a smooth arrival. Check in and get settled for your first night in the city.

Lima
Have breakfast at the hotel, then spend the morning at the Larco Museum and Casa Aliaga to see colonial architecture and local art. Walk through the downtown colonial area and visit Lima's Cathedral. Head back to your hotel by early afternoon.

Lima to Arequipa
Start your day in Arequipa at Plaza de Arimas and check out the cathedral there. Move on to the Monastery of Santa Catalina, which has intricate interior courtyards and passages. See the Church of the Company with its baroque design, then head up to Yanahuara and Carmen Alto for views of Misti volcano. Return to the hotel in the evening.

After breakfast and some time at the hotel, head toward Puno in the afternoon. Drive through Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, see the rock formations at Patahuasi, and spot cranes at various lagoons. Reach Puno and check into your accommodation.

After lunch, walk about an hour more to Inti Punku for your first look at Machu Picchu, then descend to Aguas Calientes.

Start early with breakfast, then take a bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the citadel's main sections. Have lunch on your own, then catch a scenic train ride for about 1.5 hours back to Ollantaytambo. Drive from there back to your hotel in Cusco.
