Athens
You'll arrive in Athens with a complimentary hotel transfer already arranged. After settling in, meet your tour representative in the afternoon for an orientation covering the city's main highlights and what to expect from the trip. The rest of the day is yours to wander around Athens on your own and get a feel for the place.

- Day 2
Athens to Kalambaka
Following breakfast, head to Delphi, a UNESCO World Heritage site that served as the ancient center of the world where the Oracle gave prophecies. The museum there has the famous Bronze Charioteer sculpture worth seeing. Later you'll come down from Mount Parnassus toward the Thessaly plains and reach Kalambaka for the evening. Either rest at your hotel or walk through the old town with its narrow cobblestone streets if you have the energy.

Kalambaka to Athens
Start early to see Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with monasteries built atop massive rock formations. Six of these monasteries are still active today and the setting is quite remarkable. After exploring, you'll stop briefly at Thermopylae to see the statue of King Leonidas before the drive back to Athens, arriving in the late afternoon.

Athens
You get a 48-hour pass for Athens' open-top double-decker buses, so hop on and off as many times as you'd like. Multilingual audio guides are included on each bus. In the evening, there's an optional walking tour through some of the nicer neighborhoods like Anafiotika, Thisseo, Monastiraki, and Plaka. Different colored bus lines cover different areas: the Orange Line handles the Acropolis and historic sites, Blue goes to the ports, Yellow covers the Athenian Riviera, Green visits beaches and a lake, or you can try the Train of Happiness.

Athens
This day is free to do as you please around Athens. If you'd rather not stay in the city, there's an optional full-day cruise to three islands in the Saronic Gulf: Aegina (known for pistachios), Poros (scenic), and Hydra (green with stone mansions and no cars). The cruise comes with lunch and traditional Greek music and dancing, plus your return transfer to the hotel.

Athens to Cairo
You'll transfer to Athens International Airport for your flight to Cairo. When you land in Egypt's capital, an English-speaking tour assistant meets you for orientation and information about the city. From there, it's a transfer to your hotel where you can spend the rest of the day relaxing and adjusting to the time change.

Cairo
Begin with a typical Egyptian breakfast before heading out with your official English-speaking guide. You'll see the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the Great Pyramid of Khufu, which is the only Wonder of the Ancient World still standing. The guide will take you to both the main entrance area and closer vantage points so you see everything properly.

After breakfast, you'll spend the full day exploring Cairo. First, visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities downtown to see Tutankhamun's Treasure, mummies, and sculptures. Then move through Historic Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage site with 10th-century mosques, and check out the Salah ad-Din Citadel fortress. Later, wander through Khan el-Khalili Market and finish by visiting the Coptic Neighborhood to see the Hanging Church and Church of St. Sergius.

At the scheduled time, transfer to Cairo International Airport for check-in. If you bought tax-free items, that refund processing happens here too. Then you'll depart Egypt.
