- Day 1
Madrid
You'll arrive at Madrid airport and head to your hotel to settle in. Take the afternoon to wander around the capital at your own pace and get your bearings. Later in the evening, you'll take an illuminated drive through Madrid's old streets, finishing at Plaza Mayor where you can grab dinner at one of the traditional tapas restaurants there.

Madrid
After buffet breakfast, you'll join a guided tour hitting Madrid's main sights like Puerta del Sol, the Neptune and Cibeles fountains, Alcala Gate, Gran Via, Plaza de Espana, and Plaza de Oriente. The afternoon opens up for you to check out the art museums on your own, or if you prefer, take an optional trip to Toledo to see its medieval layout, narrow streets, Gothic cathedral, and St. Tome Church.

Madrid - Segovia - Avila - Salamanca
After breakfast you'll head into old Castile. First stop is Segovia to see the 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct and the impressive Alcazar Castle. From there you'll pause in Avila to look at the well-preserved 11th-century city walls. Then it's on to Salamanca, a charming university town where you'll have an afternoon city tour and walk through the main plaza.

Following breakfast, you'll travel north into Galicia and arrive in Santiago de Compostela. In the afternoon, you'll get a guided tour of the old city and see the cathedral. You'll have dinner at the hotel this evening.

After breakfast you're heading to Rias Baixas and then toward Portugal. You'll visit Viana do Castelo at the mouth of the Lima River to see its historic center and castle. Then you'll continue on to Porto, which sits in the Douro region and serves as northern Portugal's main city.

Porto

Porto - Aveiro - Fatima - Lisbon
After breakfast and getting on the road, you'll head to Aveiro, known as the 'city of canals' or Portugal's Venice. Then you'll continue to Fatima, one of Christianity's major pilgrimage sites, where you'll have free time to visit the basilica and grab lunch. After that you'll drive to Lisbon. Tonight there's an optional chance to listen to haunting Fado music while having dinner.

The afternoon is free, and it's really worth heading to the charming villages of Sintra and Cascais if you can.

This morning's tour takes you through Spain's third largest city, which has a gracious, charming feel. An optional Flamenco show with local wine is available this evening.

Tonight you can have dinner at the Pueblo Espaol, which features architectural replicas from regions all across Spain.

After breakfast you'll take an escorted tour of one of Europe's most beautiful cities. You'll see the ancient Gothic Quarter with its cathedral, then stop to look at the outside of Gaudi's Basilica of the Sacred Family. Next you'll head up Montjuich Hill for a great view of Barcelona and its port. You'll have free time for lunch and can explore the city on your own in the afternoon.
