Arrival in Reykjavik
You'll land at Keflavik airport and catch the Flybus shuttle into Reykjavik to reach your accommodation. If your flight gets in early enough, there's time to wander around Iceland's capital on your own and get a feel for the city before settling in for the night.

- Day 2
Reykjavik to Ísafjörður
The Westfjords leg kicks off at Grábróc, a volcanic crater that's about 3,400 years old with sweeping 360-degree views across the valley. You'll stop for lunch in the coastal town of Búðardalur, then drive along scenic fjords where you might spot whales in the distance. After checking out Litlibær, a turf house cafe and museum, you'll head to Ísafjörður for a three-night stay. Later that evening, you'll join a Northern Lights hunt.

- Day 3
Ísafjörður
Today centers on Dynjandi, one of Iceland's most notable waterfalls with its distinctive stepped structure. The route continues along the coast to the pier at Ónundarfjörður, which extends into the water from a golden beach. After a nature walk and some food, you'll check out Ísafjörður's charming town center with its colorful houses on cobblestone streets. Another Northern Lights search happens as evening falls.

- Day 4
Flateyri - Ísafjörður
Start at the Ósvor Maritime Museum, where a restored fishing hut shows what 19th-century rowboat fishing looked like in real detail. From there, you'll head to Flateyri village and browse Gamla bókabu'in, a historic bookstore that's been operating since 1914 and has unique Icelandic souvenirs. The evening brings another chance to search for Northern Lights.

Ísafjörður to Breiðafjörður
The day takes you to Hólmavík village to explore the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft, which covers folklore and artifacts from Iceland's mystical history. Later you'll head to a remote spot near Breiðafjörður Bay in West Iceland, which is ideal for Northern Lights hunting, so you'll want to stay up fairly late looking for activity in the sky.

Breiðafjörður to Reykjavik
You'll make your way back to Reykjavik with stops along the route. The Settlement Centre in Borgarnes covers Iceland's early human settlement through exhibitions spread across a warehouse, merchant house, and reception hall. Once back in Reykjavik, you can see Hallgrímskirkja church, walk the University campus, and check out the harbor area. The evening wraps up at the Icelandic Bar, where trying fermented shark and Brennivín is optional if you're game.
