Itinerary
- Day 1
Kampala/Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Your driver picks you up and you'll head west through the Ugandan countryside toward Queen Elizabeth National Park on an 8-hour drive. The route takes you through small towns and villages with lush greenery surrounding you the whole way. You'll stop in Fort Portal for lunch, then the Rwenzori Mountains come into view as you continue on. By evening you'll arrive at your lodge and head straight out for a game drive to catch elephants, hippos, and buffalos before sunset.

- Day 2
Queen Elizabeth National Park
This morning starts early with a wildlife safari game drive where you'll search for lions, leopards, giant forest hogs, cape buffalos, elephants, and various antelope species with the Rwenzori Mountains as your backdrop. After lunch you'll switch to a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward that lasts 2 to 3 hours. The water holds the highest concentration of hippos in the park and you'll spot over 600 bird species, making it ideal for both photography and wildlife watching.

- Day 3
Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast you'll leave Queen Elizabeth and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on a 6-hour drive through the Kigezi Highlands, which locals call the 'Switzerland of Africa'. The journey winds through terraced hills with a lunch stop in Kabale along the way. You'll arrive at your lodge nestled in the Bwindi forest area, surrounded by the dense vegetation of the forest.

- Day 4
Mountain Gorilla Trekking
The main event of your entire trip happens today. You'll trek into the Bwindi forest in a group of no more than 8 people searching for rare mountain gorillas. Your guide points out signs of gorilla activity like dung, nests, and chewed bamboo as you make your way along forested slopes filled with vines and thick vegetation. Once you locate the gorillas you'll have up to 1 hour to observe them before your guide leads you back to the starting point.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Kampala
After an early breakfast your driver takes you on the long 9-hour journey from Bwindi back to Kampala. You'll descend from the cooler Kigezi Highlands down into the lower undulating landscape of Ankole and Buganda, passing through large farms, plantations, villages, and small towns. Multiple stops happen throughout including a photo stop at the equator crossing in Kayabwe. You should reach Kampala by early evening with enough time to freshen up before heading to your flight.
