Machame Gate to Machame Camp
You'll start at Machame Gate where registration happens before heading into Kilimanjaro's rainforest zone. The trail winds through mossy forest paths where you'll spot monkeys and birds, with occasional clearings that give you glimpses of the peak. After 5-7 hours of trekking, you reach Machame Camp at 2,835m for your first night.

Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
From the rainforest, the trail climbs into heath and moorland with giant heathers and volcanic rock formations visible all around. You'll trek for 4-6 hours as the views expand to show Shira Plateau and surrounding ridges, and the air gets noticeably thinner and cooler. By afternoon you arrive at Shira Cave Camp at 3,750m with views of Kibo Peak.

Shira Cave Camp to Barranco Camp
This day focuses on acclimatization work, ascending to Lava Tower at 4,600m before descending to help your body adjust for summit night. The landscape shifts into alpine desert with sparse vegetation and dramatic rock formations everywhere. After lunch at Lava Tower, you descend to Barranco Camp at 3,900m in a more sheltered location.

Landmarks Lava Tower - Day 4
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
The Barranco Wall scramble is today's main event, a fun but balance-demanding climb where you zigzag upward (no technical skills needed). Once you're on top, the views open up across Karanga Valley and you can see distant glaciers. The hike continues across ridges and valleys before gradually ascending to Karanga Camp at 3,995m.

Landmarks Barranco Wall Karanga Valley - Day 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
The trail leads steadily uphill across an alpine desert with sparse vegetation as you approach Barafu, your base camp for the summit attempt. Oxygen levels drop with each step and you'll rest early to prepare mentally for the challenging climb ahead. Mawenzi Peak and Kibo's summit cone dominate the skyline throughout the day.

Landmarks Mawenzi Peak Kibo Peak - Day 6
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
You start before midnight for the slow, determined climb to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, the highest point in Africa. The ascent is steep, cold, and exhausting, but witnessing sunrise over the continent is the reward. After celebrating on the summit, you descend to Barafu to rest then continue down to Mweka Camp at 3,100m.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
Your final descent winds through lush rainforest filled with birdsong and flowing streams. After a few hours you'll reach Mweka Gate where you receive your summit certificate. Then you drive back to Moshi for rest at Kilimanjaro White House Hotel, with the evening offering time to relax and reflect on the climb.

Moshi to Tarangire National Park
The safari starts with a drive from Moshi through Arusha to Tarangire National Park, known for giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. Game drives show giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, and predators roaming across the savannah. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife and offers great viewing opportunities throughout the day.

After breakfast you depart via Mto wa Mbu and pass Lake Manyara before heading to the Serengeti. The vast plains stretch endlessly with wildebeest, zebras, lions, and countless other species visible. Afternoon game drives let you witness predator-prey interactions in the golden savannah light.

By midday you begin your journey to Ngorongoro, passing through Maasai villages and rolling highlands. The drive offers views as you climb toward the crater's rim, with evening time to prepare for crater exploration.

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
The final day takes you down into the Ngorongoro Crater, a unique geological formation. The crater floor is home to lions, elephants, rhinos, and numerous bird species. You'll do a half-day game drive with wildlife and landscapes all around. After lunch you ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha.
