Kigali
You'll arrive at Kigali International Airport and get picked up for the drive to your hotel. Take some time to settle in and get oriented. Kigali spreads across rolling hills with plenty to explore if you have energy left, from local restaurants and markets to craft shops scattered throughout the capital.

- Day 2
Kigali to Ruhengeri
After breakfast, you'll head to the genocide museum followed by a city tour of Kigali. Later you'll drive northwest through terraced hillsides toward Ruhengeri, your base for gorilla trekking. This small city sits about 25km from the Uganda border and sits in the shadow of volcanoes, so the views are quite good from there.

Landmarks Kigali Genocide Centre Volcanoes National Park - Day 3
Volcanoes National Park Gorilla Trekking
You'll need an early breakfast before heading out at 6:20 AM to Volcanoes National Park headquarters. By 7:00 AM you'll meet with trackers for a briefing, then start trekking through rainforest and volcanic foothills. You'll spend about an hour watching gorillas in their habitat, then return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon takes you to Twin Lakes Ruhondo and Bulera.

Ruhengeri to Kigali
Breakfast at the lodge comes first, then you'll drive south through scenic terrain dotted with banana plantations back toward Kigali. The route takes you through Rwanda's characteristic green hills. From there you'll get transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
