Medan
You'll get in to Medan independently and settle into your hotel near the airport. The day is completely yours to structure however you want. There's an airport transfer available if you need it, and the hotel has a restaurant on-site for meals, so you can take things at your own pace after traveling.

Medan to Bukit Lawang
After breakfast, your group meets at 10 am to check out Medan's main attractions including the Grand Mosque and Grand Palace. From there, you'll travel by minivan to Bukit Lawang village, which serves as your entry point to Gunung Leuser National Park and the rainforest where endangered Sumatran orangutans live.

Bukit Lawang Jungle Trek
You'll head out on a guided hike through the dense rainforest, listening to exotic bird calls and looking for orangutans moving through the canopy. Your guide points out details about local plants and animals as you go. The hike runs about 6 hours total with rest stops built in, and you'll sleep at a simple jungle camp that night.

Bukit Lawang
Following breakfast, you'll visit a waterfall and spend some time at the camp. After lunch, you'll tube down the river back to Bukit Lawang. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to either relax or wander around and see what the village has to offer.

- Day 5
Bukit Lawang to Berastagi
The minivan takes you from Bukit Lawang to Berastagi in the highland area. You'll notice the temperature drop and see fertile land with Gunung Sibayak volcano rising up. At the lively local market, you can try fresh fruits and vegetables, pick up handmade crafts, and talk with the locals.

Landmarks/POIs Gunung Sibayak - Day 6
Berastagi to Lake Toba
You'll hike Gunung Sibayak volcano, which takes 2 to 3 hours, with views across the surrounding area once you reach higher elevations. After coming back down, you'll drive toward Lake Toba and pass by the Sipisopiso Waterfall that drops 120 metres. A car ferry then carries you across to Samosir Island, located in the middle of this volcanic lake.

Samosir Island
A guided tour shows you traditional Batak villages on Samosir Island, along with local markets and traditional structures that reflect the indigenous culture and building styles. After that, the day is yours to take a walk along the lake, try out water sports, or just sit by the water and relax.

Landmarks/POIs Samosir Island - Day 8
Samosir Island to Medan
After eating breakfast, you'll head back to Medan by minivan. From there, you can arrange your own travel plans or accommodations elsewhere in Sumatra. Your driver can drop you at the airport or a hotel in Medan depending on what you need. If you're catching a flight, you should arrive at the airport no earlier than 3 pm.
