Reviews of Small Group tours to Indonesia
- 8 days group tour through North-Sumatra
Was an amazing experience. Learned a lot about different cultures, experienced a variety of wild life, and saw a lot of Indonesia’s natural beauty. Was an awesome way to spend as a solo traveler. Made everything super easy and stress free. I definitely saw way more than I could planning my own solo journey. Everyone was very nice, helpful and accommodating. If you’re thinking about it just do it. But only for those who don’t mind giving up some luxuries for a few days :-)
- Tailor-Made Indonesia Highlights Trip, No Group & Daily Depart
Was great, great guides, lots of great sites, everyone seemed to work together to make this a great experience for us.
- Wanderlands Gili&Lombok - 7 Days
I did the 7 days tour with Bapo which was really nice and well organized. The best part for me were the Gili islands. There we did not only snorkel and dive with the turtles, but also had time to relax on the beautiful beach. All of the hotels/ hostels were really nice and clean! I had the best experience and can only recommend booking the tour.
What our customers ask about Indonesia Small Group Tours
What is the optimal group size for exploring Indonesia's cultural sites and natural wonders?
Groups of 8-12 travelers provide the best balance when exploring Indonesia. This size works particularly well at places like Borobudur Temple or villages in Ubud where visitors can engage meaningfully with local culture. Boutique properties such as the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel accommodate these smaller numbers comfortably offering a more personal atmosphere than large resorts. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned "Having a small group made the experience much more personal and allowed us to really connect with local communities and our guide."
What is the average cost difference between small and large group tours in Indonesia?
Small group tours cost about 20-30% more than large group options with daily rates from $150-400 compared to $100-250 for larger tours. The higher price includes closer attention from guides stays at boutique properties like the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and more focused experiences. According to a TourRadar traveler: "The slightly higher cost was absolutely worth it for the intimate experiences and personal attention we received throughout the journey."
What unique accommodations are available for small group tours in Indonesia?
Small group tours access a range of distinctive places to stay throughout Indonesia. Travelers might find themselves in the luxury villas of Kamandalu Ubud one night and experience village life through homestays in places like Ngadas the next. A TourRadar traveler noted "The homestay experience in Ngadas village was incredible - something that wouldn't be possible with a large group and really helped us understand local life."
How do small group tours handle transportation between Indonesian islands?
Transportation for small groups moves smoothly with private vans boats and ferries sized just right for intimate groups. Between Bali and Lombok groups take private speedboats instead of crowded public ferries. Reviews often mention "Having a dedicated minibus for our small group made island-hopping so much smoother especially when visiting remote spots like Nusa Penida's Diamond Beach."
How does dining work on small group tours in Indonesia?
Small groups enjoy access to local warungs and family restaurants that larger tours must skip. In Ubud groups often share meals in local homes getting closer to authentic Indonesian cooking. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We could eat at authentic local spots like the Gianyar Night Market rather than tourist restaurants which really enhanced the cultural experience."
