Kampala to Chimpanzee Trekking Area
Start early from Kampala and drive through rolling green hills and forests toward the equator. You'll pass herds of Ankole cattle with their long distinctive horns scattered across the landscape. By evening you'll have time to walk around and get to know the local community at your own pace.

- Day 2
Kalinzu Forest or Kyambura Gorge
Head out into the forest to search for chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Since chimps spend most of their time in the trees rather than on the ground like mountain gorillas, you'll be looking up into the thick forest canopy to spot these primates, our closest living relatives.

Chimpanzee Trekking Area to Lake Bunyonyi
Drive to Lake Bunyonyi, which sits surrounded by islands, rainforest, and rolling hills. You'll trek through thick rainforest for about an hour to watch a family of mountain gorillas from a safe distance. On days without trekking, try optional boat trips to islands, go bird-watching, visit nearby villages, or paddle canoes on the lake.

Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala
Leave Lake Bunyonyi and drive back toward Kampala, passing along the northern edge of Lake Victoria. Once you arrive back in the city, spend the evening however you'd like - explore neighborhoods, meet people, or try some local food.

Landmarks/POIs Lake Victoria - Day 7
Kampala to Jinja
Drive to Jinja on the banks of Lake Victoria where the River Nile begins its 5,584km journey through 11 countries to the Mediterranean. You'll stay at a campsite right beside the Nile with options for quad biking, white water rafting, Nile cruises, fishing, or mountain biking. There's also a chance to help at a local school with painting or other projects.

This day is yours to do whatever you want. Take advantage of the optional activities, go for a long walk along the river, or just hang out at the campsite with a book if you prefer.
