Kitulgala
Early morning bird-watching in Kitulgala's rainforest has you spotting endemic species like the Orange-billed babbler and Chestnut-backed owlet. After that, you'll take a dugout canoe across the Kelani River, then do a nature trek through the lush ecosystem. If you're interested, white-water rafting on the river is available as an optional add-on.

Kitulgala to Nuwara Eliya
Following breakfast, you leave Kitulgala and head toward Nuwara Eliya in the central highlands. Along the way, there are stops at Devon and St. Clair Falls. You'll tour a tea factory to see how production works, then take a walk through Victoria Park where the misty mountain air really sets the mood.

Nuwara Eliya to Udawalawe
An early start gets you to Horton Plains National Park before dawn. The hike to World's End rewards you with dramatic escarpment views and panoramic vistas. You'll have a picnic breakfast while keeping an eye out for native monkeys, lizards, and deer. Later in the day, you travel to Udawalawe for the night.

Udawalawe to Yala
The morning safari at Udawalawe National Park puts you in elephant country, with over 500 of them living in the park. You'll look for majestic adults and baby elephants, plus water buffalo, crocodiles, and various bird species. After that safari, you continue on to Yala National Park where leopards roam.

Yala
You spend the entire day exploring Yala National Park's different landscapes, grassy plains, lagoons, and lush jungles. Keep your camera ready for elephant families, monkeys, sunbathing crocodiles, and if you're lucky, elusive leopards among the granite boulders. A picnic lunch happens right there in nature.

The morning and early afternoon are yours to do as you like. Then you drive about 2 hours to the coastal town of Mirissa. Once there, you can relax at your accommodation and check out the beachside restaurants for dinner.

Mirissa to Bentota
An early start means heading out on the water for whale-watching off Mirissa's coast. You'll search for whales, dolphins, and turtles, with chances to see blue whales if conditions are right. Back at your hotel, you freshen up before the drive to Bentota.

Bentota
