  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Lima

    After landing in Lima, your guide will be waiting to help with the transfer to your hotel. This gets you settled and ready to start exploring.

  2. Day 2

    Lima to Arequipa

    You'll fly to Arequipa and start checking out this white city with its historic center. The Santa Catalina Monastery is worth seeing, along with the Main Square, San Francisco Complex, and the Cathedral. Later, you can walk through the colonial Yanahuara district where you'll get views of three volcanoes: Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu from the viewpoint.

    Arequipa to Colca Valley to Chivay

    Heading from Arequipa toward Colca Canyon, you'll pass by snow-capped volcanoes Misti, Chachani, and Ampato along the way. The route takes you through villages like Torja, Chucura, and Patapampa, each with colonial churches and old Inca terraces. Stop at Corporaque Viewpoint to see the valley before arriving in Chivay.

  4. Day 4

    Chivay to Colca Canyon to Puno

    Start early at Cruz del Condor viewpoint to watch Andean condors catch the morning thermals. You'll travel through villages learning about pre-Inca, Inca, and Colonial history in the canyon area. After lunch back in Chivay, take a bus to Puno with stops at Pampa Cañahuas where you can see vicuñas and at Lagunillas for birdwatching.

    Taquile Island - Santa Maria-Llachon - Uros Ccapi - Puno

    Meet at 7:00 am for a speedboat ride to Taquile Island where you'll relax on beaches and hike pre-Inca trails. Visit textile weavers to see their work, then head to the Quechua community of Santa Maria-Llachon for a traditional Pachamanca lunch cooked underground. Before heading back around 4:30 pm, you'll stop at the Uros Ccapi floating islands.

    Puno to La Paz

    An early morning bus ride takes you to La Paz over about 7 hours. Once you arrive, you'll transfer to your hotel to settle in.

  7. Day 7

    La Paz to Uyuni

    Fly from La Paz to Uyuni and start the day at the train cemetery. From there, head south through San Cristobal, Alota Valley, and Katal Lagoon, passing through the Valley of the Rocks. You'll reach Villamar in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

  8. Day 8

    Laguna Colorada - Colchani

    Leave early to visit the Dali desert and Sol de Mañana geysers at high altitude (5,000 meters/16,400 feet). Stop at Polques hot springs and see the green lagoon, then continue through Siloli desert where flamingos gather at Laguna Colorada. Late afternoon brings you to Colchani where you'll sleep in a hotel built from salt blocks.

    Incahuasi Island

    Around 10:00 am, head to Colchani town to see salt processing and local crafts. Then enter the Salar de Uyuni salt flat and visit Incahuasi Island for lunch in the middle of this otherworldly landscape. You'll have free time for photos and possibly catch the sunset before heading to Uyuni town to rest.

    Uyuni to La Paz

    After breakfast, transfer to the airport and fly back to La Paz. Following arrival and check-in at your hotel, spend the afternoon on a 4-hour city tour. You'll see the Moon Valley geological formation, ride the cable car for views across the city, explore the witches' market, visit San Francisco cathedral, check out Plaza Murillo, and walk through the historical center.

    Cusco

    Spend the day exploring Cusco and learning its story from Inca times through colonial rule to the present. See the Koricancha Temple of the Sun, the 12-Angled Rock, and the Cathedral that was built on top of Inca Palace ruins. Visit archaeological sites around the city including Sacsayhuaman fortress, Qenqo, PucaPucara, and the Water Temple of Tambomachay.

    Sacred Valley - Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu

    Explore the Sacred Valley starting with Pisac village and its market where locals in traditional clothing sell produce and crafts. Check out the Pisac Ruins with their impressive terracing high on the hillside. Continue to Ollantaytambo and see the Inca town layout and its fortress. From Ollantaytambo station, board a train to Machu Picchu town with music and modern interiors. Note: luggage limited to one carry-on bag (5.0 kg/11 lb maximum, 62 linear inches/157 linear cm).

    Take a bus up to Machu Picchu for your first view of this ancient Inca site. A guide will show you around the ruins and monuments. After exploring, bus back down to town and head to the station for the train back to Ollantaytambo, then transfer to your Cusco hotel.
