Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Pilcopata
Your pickup happens early between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. from the hotel, then you'll travel by private bus toward Manu National Park. Along the route you'll stop at the Chullpas de Ninamarca tombs, and after that head through the colonial town of Paucartambo where there's a museum to check out. The bus continues climbing to the park entrance, then descends into the cloud forest where you can search for the Cock of the Rock and other bird species. There's also a chance to spot a Spectacled Bear if you're lucky. By afternoon you'll reach Pilcopata and settle into your jungle lodge for the night.

Pilcopata to Boca Manu
After breakfast you'll catch a bus heading to Puerto Atalaya, which takes around 45 minutes and includes a stop at a coca plantation where you'll learn about this plant's importance in Peruvian culture. Once at Puerto Atalaya you'll board a motorized boat and travel down the Madre de Dios River looking for herons, kingfishers, and jungle condors. A natural hot spring with medicinal baths is next on the itinerary, and if time allows you might visit the native community of Diamante to see traditional houses and wild fruits. You'll arrive at Boca Manu in the afternoon and spend the night at the lodge.

- Day 3
Boca Manu to Cocha Otorongo
After breakfast you'll enter the Reserved Area where wildlife viewing improves significantly. You'll make a brief stop at the ranger's station before continuing along the river to look for turtles, white alligators, and ronsocos. By afternoon you'll reach the safari camp at Cocha Otorongo, and shortly after arriving you'll take a walk to the lake and climb the 30-meter observation tower to search for giant otters in the river. That night you'll sleep in safari camp on covered platforms with mosquito nets for protection.

Landmarks Cocha Otorongo 
- Day 4
Cocha Otorongo
You'll head to Cocha Salvador lake about 30 minutes from camp and paddle in a catamaran searching for giant river otters, unusual birds, and monkey species. From there you'll hike forest trails with your guide learning about rainforest ecosystems. Before heading back to Cocha Otorongo for the night, there's a quick stop at Casa Matchiguenka to browse handmade crafts. An optional night walk is available if you want to spot snakes, spiders, and insects under cover of darkness.

Cocha Otorongo to Manu River Lodge
After breakfast you'll travel downstream by boat on the Manu River and watch for bird species along the banks. You'll stop at Cocha Brashco lake where you can observe otters, caimans, and monkeys before continuing to your lodge for the night.

- Day 6
Manu River to Paititi
After breakfast you'll travel upstream by boat on the Madre de Dios River looking for capybaras and various bird species. You'll have lunch on the river, then continue upstream to Paititi lodge where you'll spend your final night.

- Day 7
Paititi to Cusco
On your final day you'll travel upstream by boat from Paititi to Puerto Atalaya. Your private vehicle will be waiting when you arrive, and you'll head back to Cusco, pulling in around 6:00 p.m.
