Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Pacchanta
You'll leave Cusco at 8 am and drive southeast for about three hours, arriving in Pacchanta by 11 am. This is an Andean alpaca community sitting at 4,400m, where you'll check into the mountain lodge and get your rock climbing gear ready. After lunch, there's a one-hour hike up to the climbing spot. You'll spend the afternoon doing three hours of climbing and rappelling, then head down to soak in the hot springs before heading back for dinner.

Landmarks Pacchanta Alpaca Community - Day 2
Pacchanta to Hatun Finaya
Starting at 8 am, you'll begin a quiet climb that takes three to four hours to reach Qampa pass at 5,000m. From there, you'll descend for two hours down to Suyrupata for lunch. After eating, it's another hour descent followed by a one-hour climb up to Hatun Finaya at 4,600m. You'll settle in here with views of the Ausangate and Mariposa mountains nearby.

Hatun Finaya to Pukacocha
You'll hike for two to three hours up to El Paso Palomani at 5,100m, then drop down for an hour to the Ausangate lagoon at 4,600m where lunch is waiting. After eating, you'll climb back up to El Paso Ausangate at 4,900m, then make the final descent to Pukacocha at 4,600m for dinner. The setting here puts you right in front of Ausangate's massive West face with turquoise lagoons all around.

Pukacocha to Suyrucocha Laguna
Around two hours of climbing gets you to Pukamoqo pass at 4,900m. You'll then descend for two hours to Anantapata at 4,600m and have lunch. From there, it's about two more hours of hiking to Warmisaya pass at 4,900m, followed by a final one-hour descent to Suyrucocha Lagoon at 4,600m. Your camp sits near Rainbow Mountain, so you'll have great views for the evening.

Suyrucocha to Rainbow Mountain Base Camp
You're leaving early for a two-hour walk up to Winikunka, also called the Mountain of Colors, reaching 5,080m in time to catch the sunrise. Being first here means you get the peak experience before crowds arrive. You'll spend time walking around and taking photos. Later, you'll descend for two hours to the Nevado del Inka base camp, where you'll have lunch, dinner, and rest up for the next day.

Rainbow Mountain Climb and Return to Base Camp
You'll walk through Red Valley with a gradual two-hour climb, then add an extra hour to reach Rainbow Mountain's summit by 7 am. Being first to the peak means you get it to yourself before other groups show up. After spending time there, you'll head back down to Nevado del Inka base camp for lunch and rest. This sets you up for tomorrow's climb to the glacier.

Landmarks Red Valley Rainbow Mountain Nevado del Inka - Day 7
Nevado del Inka Summit and Return to Cusco
You'll leave early and spend three hours approaching the glacier, then four more hours climbing to Nevado del Inka's summit at 5,320m. From the top, you can see Rainbow Mountain and the surrounding glaciers spread out below. Next comes the technical part: a 60m ice wall climb at a 55-degree angle using ice stakes and screws. After that, you'll rappel down, spend about two hours exiting the glacier, then two more hours back to base camp for lunch. The return drive to Cusco takes roughly three hours.
