Arrival at Kilimanjaro
You'll arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and get picked up by private transfer to your hotel in Moshi. The afternoon includes a pre-climb briefing where you'll go through your equipment, confirm medical coverage, and sort out travel insurance before heading out on the trek.

Nale Moru to Simba Camp
Drive out to Nale Moru village where the Rongai route kicks off. You'll hike through farmland and pine forest, watching for Colobus monkeys, elephants, and buffalos along the way. By afternoon you'll reach Simba Camp sitting at the edge of the moorland zone.

Landmarks Nale Moru Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 3
Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Caves
The day brings a steady climb through moorland toward Second Cave Camp, where you get views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields. After lunch you branch off on a quieter trail toward Mawenzi's spiked peaks, then settle in at Kikelewa Caves in a secluded valley for the night.

Landmarks Kibo Mawenzi - Day 4
Mawenzi Tarn Hut Acclimatization Day
A short but steep hike up grassy slopes delivers you to Mawenzi Tarn Hut below the high cliffs of Mawenzi, with views across the Kenyan plains to the north. The afternoon is yours to explore the surrounding area and help your body adjust to the altitude.

Landmarks Mawenzi - Day 5
Saddle to High Camp
You'll walk across the lunar landscape of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. After a couple hours on this otherworldly terrain, Kilimanjaro's summit comes into view as you near the high camp trail. The rest of the day is for resting and preparing mentally, with an early bedtime since the summit push starts after midnight.

Landmarks Kibo - Day 6
Summit Day to Uhuru Peak
Get woken at 11:30 PM for hot tea or coffee, then start the summit hike at 12:30 AM through heavy scree toward Gilman's Point. You'll get another warm drink at Gilman's while watching the sunrise, then push on for 1.5 hours to Uhuru Peak at the top of Africa. After that comes the long descent to Kibo Hut for lunch, then down to Horombo Hut for dinner and rest.

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi
Following breakfast and a celebration with your porters, you'll hike down to Marangu Gate where hot lunch is waiting. From there a car takes you back to Moshi and your accommodation.

Departure from Moshi
This day is open for your next move. If a safari is on your schedule, you can start it now, or head to Zanzibar, or catch a flight home. Your vehicle will be ready whenever you need to get to the airport.
