Itinerary

Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and your tour leader will set up a quick orientation walk through the historic centre depending on when you touch down. If your flight gets in early, there's plenty to wander around on your own before meeting the group.

 - Day 2
Vila do Conde - Viana de Castelo
After breakfast, you'll head to Matosinhos and walk a section of the Litoral Camino along Atlantic boardwalks. Lunch features local fish, then you continue walking by the sea to Vila do Conde. Later you'll transfer to Viana de Castelo where you can check out the cathedral and church, finishing with a drink by the old port.

Caminha - Valenca
Starting from your hotel, you'll walk country lanes and forest trails with views of both sea and mountains. You'll pass through Portuguese villages on the hills before reaching a high point, then descend to Vila Praia de Ancora for lunch. The afternoon involves flat terrain walking by the sea to Caminha, a walled town on the Minho river. From there, you'll transfer to Valenca, another walled city known for linen production and handcrafted items.

Tui - O Porriño - Pontevedra
After breakfast, you'll cross the Ponte Rodo bridge into Spain and explore Tui with its Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. You'll pass the Pilgrim monument, then follow the Louro river through woodlands to O Porriño, known for pink granite. You'll transfer to Pontevedra and walk the old centre. Dinner happens at one of the local restaurants with terraces.

O Salnés - Armenteira
You'll start a special detour on the Portuguese Camino's Spiritual Variant, considered by many the original Saint James path. After breakfast, you head west toward the sea through O Salnés, passing Poio with its 17th-century Benedictine monastery and the fishing village of Combarro. The day finishes with forest walking to Armenteira where a 12th-century monastery still operates.

Stone and Water Route - Rivier Umia
After breakfast, you'll transfer to Armenteira and walk the Stone and Water Route, a trail running parallel to the River Armenteira with 51 ancient mills and waterfalls. You'll move through lush green forests with cascades and flowing water. In the afternoon, you walk alongside the Rivier Umia past Albariño grapevines and fields, ending by the sea.

Translatio Boat Route - Pontecesures - Padron
You'll start with a short walk to the harbour in Vilanueva de Arousa, then board a boat for the Translatio, one of the only water-based pilgrimage trails in the world. The captain points out 17 stone crosses marking the Apostle's final journey while highlighting mussel farms and the 9th-century Oeste Fortress. After reaching Pontecesures, you walk a final stretch past statues of notable residents including Nobel Prize-winning novelist Camilo Jose Cela. Lunch features Padron peppers, a local speciality.

Santiago de Compostela
On your final walking day, you'll pass through typical Galician villages and woodland before arriving in Santiago de Compostela. Your route includes the Igrexa de Santa Maria de Iria where author Camilo Jose Cela is buried. Upon arrival, you follow centuries-old tradition through city streets to Plaza del Obradoiro with its cathedral. You can watch a mass service featuring the impressive Botafumeiro incense swinging. In the afternoon, a walking tour covers the cathedral where Saint James is said to be buried. The day ends with a farewell group dinner at a restaurant in Santiago centre.
