You'll land in Colombo and get driven to your hotel, giving you time to settle in and get ready for the safari portion of your trip. It's a straightforward arrival day, so you can relax, maybe grab some dinner, and prepare for what's coming next.

Landmarks/POIs Colombo - Days 2 - 6
Wilpattu National Park
Head out to Wilpattu National Park, which is Sri Lanka's largest and oldest park and goes by the nickname 'Land of Lakes'. Over the next four days, you'll be going on game drives with experienced guides through thick forest and around all those lakes, looking for leopards and other wildlife. The setting here is really different from what you might expect, with water bodies scattered throughout that attract animals.

Landmarks/POIs Wilpattu National Park - Days 7 - 11
Yala National Park
From there, you'll travel to Yala National Park, which is probably the country's most famous spot for seeing leopards. The landscape varies quite a bit here with jungle, grasslands, and coastal lagoons all mixed together. You'll take several game drives to try spotting leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and lots of different birds. Each drive tends to reveal different things depending on the time and where your guide takes you.

Landmarks/POIs Yala National Park - Day 12
Yala National Park to Colombo
After your safari time wraps up, you'll head back to Colombo to fly out. By this point you'll have seen a lot of wildlife and spent considerable time in the parks, so the return to the capital gives you a chance to process everything before you leave Sri Lanka.
