Salalah
You'll arrive in Salalah and head straight to your hotel to get settled. The rest of the day is yours to relax, so spend some time on the beach if you're up for it or just take it easy after traveling.

East of Salalah
Head out early to explore Salalah's eastern side. You'll start in the Taqah countryside, then move on to Sumhuram, an ancient port city with ruins dating back about 2,000 years. Later you'll see Wadi Dirbat with its sinkhole and caves plus some nice coastal views. Before wrapping up, stop at Ain Razat spring where you can visit the world's longest cave.

West of Salalah
This morning takes you west to Mughsayl beach to check out the natural blowholes and the frankincense trees the area's known for. After that, visit the Nabi Ayub tomb and mosque. You'll head back into Salalah for lunch around midday. In the afternoon, take a walking tour through the city, visiting the Frankincense Souq to browse local goods and then stop by the Al Baleed museum.

Empty Quarter Desert and Lost City of Ubar
You'll spend the full day exploring the Rub al Khali desert, also called the Empty Quarter. The highlight is Shishr, known as the Lost City of Ubar, which was a major point on the ancient Frankincense Trail. Along the way, you'll drive through the magnificent sand dunes before heading back to Salalah by evening.

Wadi Darbat
Start by heading east to Taqa Castle and the traditional Dhofari houses with their distinctive carved doors. From there, drive through the mountains to reach Wadi Darbat, where you'll find a scenic lake and a waterfall dropping about 500 feet. Explore the caves here which have historic paintings and inscriptions inside. You'll have a picnic lunch, then continue to Tawi Atayr Sinkhole for some bird watching. On the way back, stop by the Ain Hamran excavation site.
