Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Rome
Your driver meets you at Rome's airport and takes you to your hotel. Get yourself settled in and take some time to rest before starting your Italian adventure.

Rome to Sorrento
After breakfast, the coach departs at 7:00 a.m. heading south on the Autostrada del Sole through Lazio and Campania. You'll see the Italian countryside and views toward the Amalfi Coast with its lemon groves and steep hillsides. Arrive in Sorrento, check into your hotel, and have the afternoon free. An optional Amalfi Coast tour is available if you're interested. Dinner happens at the hotel this evening (jacket suggested for men).

- Day 3
Capri
After breakfast, you'll take an excursion to Capri by boat. If weather cooperates, you'll see the Blue Grotto from a small rowboat. The rest of the day is yours for lunch (on your own) and walking around the island. Later you return to the mainland and Sorrento for dinner and your final night here.

- Day 4
Sorrento to Palermo via Pompeii
After breakfast, head to Pompeii for a guided walking tour with a local expert. You get skip-the-line access and personal headsets so you can hear everything clearly. Walk through the remarkably preserved ruins of the Roman city buried by Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. From there, transfer by bus to Naples port where you board the TIRRENIA/SNAV ferry to Palermo. You'll spend the night on board the ferry.

- Day 6
Monreale
Start with breakfast at the hotel, then head out on a morning trip to Monreale, a UNESCO site known for almond production and Norman architecture. Check out the Cathedral of Monreale with its intricate details, then browse local shops for food and souvenirs. Back in Palermo, you'll walk through the Old Town seeing the Cathedral with its arches and mosaics. After free time in the late afternoon, return to the hotel for dinner.

- Day 7
Erice - Marsala - Agrigento
Early breakfast, then you head to Erice, a medieval village built steeply into Monte San Giuliano with winding lanes that haven't changed much since the sixth century. Walk around the village during the cool morning. Next, travel to Marsala to visit a traditional tavern for wine and regional product tasting with light lunch included. Later you reach Agrigento and explore the Valley of Temples, a UNESCO site with ancient Greek ruins including the Temple of Concord and Temple of Hercules. Check in to your hotel for dinner and the night.

- Day 8
Agrigento to Ragusa
After breakfast, travel to Ragusa and walk through Ibla, the historical center with baroque palaces and churches that are part of the Val di Noto UNESCO site. You'll see San Giorgio's old gate, Giardini Iblei, and the Church of San Giuseppe. Stop by the Cathedral of San Giorgio and other baroque churches including the Cosentini palace. Check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Noto - Syracuse - Taormina
After breakfast at the hotel, travel to Noto, a fishing town known for its baroque architecture. Visit the recently restored Cathedral of San Nicolo and walk around the town center. Continue south along the coast to Syracuse on the southeastern tip of Sicily. Cross into Ortygia, the oldest part of the city with baroque churches and medieval palaces. In the late afternoon, arrive in Taormina, check in, and have dinner.

- Day 10
Mount Etna
After breakfast, head off to Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano. You'll learn about volcanic activity and see the black lava fields and rock formations. If weather allows, you have the option to climb to the summit at 1800 m/5,906 ft. Return to Taormina in the afternoon and spend the rest of your day relaxing in this romantic town.
