Itinerary
- Day 1
Portland to Mount Hood
You'll drive up through the Columbia River Gorge and stop to take in Multnomah Falls before heading to Hood Meadows for your first hike. The trail winds through pine forest where you might spot native ferns, edible berries, and waterfalls along the way. After grabbing lunch by the falls, you'll settle into Timeberline Lodge and have dinner in the Cascade Dining Room.

Mount Hood
Start the morning with the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at the lodge, then head out to hike Mount Hood's slopes. You'll climb to Silcox Hut at Palmer Glacier's base for views of Mount Jefferson and Three Sisters. Later you'll explore the lodge's famous film location from 'The Shining,' then drive to Trillium Lake for more hiking and optional swimming. The day wraps up with either a cookout by the lake or dinner at a hand-picked restaurant.

Mount Hood
After breakfast you'll head east for white water rafting on the Deschutes River, spending about 2.5 to 3 hours navigating class II and III rapids. Keep an eye out for bighorn sheep against the basalt cliffs as you go. You'll have a hearty picnic lunch, then finish with a hike along the White River to see White River Glacier and Mount Hood's summit. By evening you'll return to the lodge for dinner.

Mount Hood to Portland
Have your last breakfast at the lodge before heading to Government Camp. You'll hike through high alpine forest and meadows with views of Mount Jefferson and Mount Hood, then eat lunch by a secluded alpine lake. On clear days this lake gives you nice profile views of Mount Hood. After lunch you'll hike back to the van and follow the Oregon Trail route back to Portland, ending your trip.
