You'll board the modern SGR train in Dar es Salaam and settle in for a scenic ride to Mikumi National Park. Watch the landscape shift from coastal plains to rolling hills as you travel inland. Once you arrive, a transfer takes you to Bastian Camp where dinner and an overnight stay give you time to rest before your safari begins.

Mikumi National Park
Start with an early breakfast, then head out for a full-day game drive through Mikumi's open savannahs and acacia woodlands. Your guide will help you spot elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and wildebeests while explaining the wildlife and ecosystems. After returning to Bastian Camp, you'll have dinner and settle in for the night.

Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you'll drive toward Udzungwa Mountains National Park, which locals call the 'African Galapagos' because of how much wildlife lives there. Once at the campsite, you can take a guided nature walk or visit a nearby village to see how local communities live. The evening brings time to soak in the authentic wilderness around you.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park to Dar es Salaam
Following breakfast, you'll hike through the Udzungwa forests to reach Sanje Waterfalls, where panoramic views and natural pools let you take a swim if you'd like. After descending the mountains, you'll head to the train station for your SGR journey back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the evening with memories of Tanzania's diverse landscapes and wildlife fresh in your mind.
