Itinerary
- Day 1
Garni to Havuts Tar
You'll start at Garni, an ancient pagan temple sitting right at the edge of a gorge with views across the mountains. From there, walk through Symphony of Stones, which is this natural rock formation that's quite different from anything else in the area. Then head to Havuts Tar Monastery, a 13th-century site with medieval cross-stones carved into the stone. You'll retrace your steps back to Yerevan after, arriving in time for the evening.

- Day 2
Angels' Canyon
Angels' Canyon is your focus today, where yellow and red rocks tower around you, shaped over thousands of years by river water cutting through. The canyon has mineral water that locals say has healing properties. After finishing the hike, transfer to Yeghegnadzor to rest. If you're interested, this region is famous for wine, so you might want to pick up some bottles from local wineries in the area.

Spitakavor Monastery
Starting in Vernashen village, you're tackling a challenging trek up to Spitakavor Monastery high in the mountains. Along the way, watch for bezoar goats that live in these areas, and you'll pass through some dramatic gorges with alpine plants. At the monastery, spend time looking at the main church and its detailed carved sculptures. Then return to Yeghegnadzor for the night.

Mount Armaghan
Mount Armaghan, an extinct volcano near Lake Sevan, is a tough climb but the views reach across to the Geghama Mountains and Armenia's largest lake below. After getting down, stop at a family cheese farm to try cheeses aged in wine and brandy. You'll drive along Lake Sevan's scenic edge before heading to Dilijan for the night.

Lastiver Waterfalls
The Tavush region has an easier forest path taking you through thick trees to Lastiver Waterfalls, and parts of the trail run along canyon edges with mountain views throughout. Grab some herbal tea by the waterfall before moving on to Yell Extreme Park, where you can do rope courses, ride horses, or try Armenia's longest zip-line if you want more excitement. Transfer to Dsegh village in the evening.

Lori Region to Dsegh
Northern Armenia's Lori region brings moderate hiking with elevation changes as you move through valleys and mountain terrain. Starting from a small village, you trek toward a well-known Lori community, walking alongside the Debed River the whole way. Pass by Bardzrakash St. Gregory Monastery, a 13th-century ruin, then arrive in Dsegh village, which has strong traditions and cultural performances. Stay overnight in Dsegh.

Aparan Water Reservoir
Today's an easier walk around Aparan water reservoir, a quiet loop away from roads and settlements. You might check out Saint Poghos Petros church ruins on the water's edge (it gets surrounded when the reservoir fills in spring). Eat lunch from a boxed meal while looking at pine forest, Mount Aragats peaks, and the water. Head back to Yerevan by evening to rest before tomorrow's serious climb.

- Day 8
Mount Aragats Southern Peak
You're climbing Armenia's highest peak today, starting at Lake Kari (Stone Lake) at 3250 m elevation in alpine meadows surrounded by flowers and snowy peaks. From there, hike toward the southern peak, gaining 690 m over 5.2 km through isolated terrain over about 3+ hours. At the summit, see the massive crater and three other peaks, and on clear days, Biblical Mount Ararat shows up on the horizon. Return to Yerevan for the night.

Yerevan Capital Exploration
Spend today in Yerevan itself, exploring the capital made of pink marble and one of the world's oldest inhabited cities. Visit Mother Armenia statue on a hill overlooking everything, then walk through the Cascade Complex and Northern Avenue with their modern cafes and shops. Head to Republic Square, the main gathering point. Tour the Ararat Brandy Factory and its museum before having a farewell dinner in the evening.
