Itinerary
- Day 1
Scotts Peak Dam to Lake Cygnus
You'll start your trek from either Scotts Peak Dam or Junction Creek Campground and make your way to Lake Cygnus. This opening 8.84-mile hike introduces you to Southwest National Park, so you're getting a feel for the terrain and landscape you'll navigate over the next several days.

Lake Cygnus to High Moor
From Lake Cygnus, you'll continue on toward High Moor, passing Lake Oberon along the way. The 5.2-mile stage covers mixed terrain with nice backcountry views, and the variety keeps things interesting as you move deeper into the park.

This is your shorter day at just 2.36 miles from High Moor to Haven Lake. You can take a more relaxed pace, explore the surrounding area if you want, or simply use the time to rest and recover before the next push.

Promontory Lake to Lake Rosanne
You'll trek from Promontory Lake to Lake Rosanne over 5.9 miles, moving through the alpine landscape. The terrain changes as you gain elevation, and the scenery shifts with it.

Cracroft Crossing to Junction Creek Campground
From Cracroft Crossing, you'll hike back toward the trailhead at Junction Creek Campground, covering about 9.3 miles. It's a longer day that marks your final backcountry leg before you head out.

Junction Creek Campground to Scotts Peak Dam
You'll complete the trek with a final 4.3-mile hike from Junction Creek Campground back to Scotts Peak Dam or Huon Campground. After that, your support vehicle picks you up and transports you back to Hobart.
