Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu
This morning you'll start at Pashupatinath Temple, a significant Hindu site where you can observe the cremation ghats along the Bagmati River and learn about the spiritual practices that make this place central to Kathmandu's religious life. Your guide will explain the temple's architecture and its importance to pilgrims who come from across Nepal and India. After that, you'll head to Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, where a long staircase takes you up to the white Buddhist stupa with its golden spire. The monkeys roaming the grounds are part of the experience, and you'll get views over the valley from up there. By midday, you'll make your way to Patan Durbar Square to see the Krishna Temple and walk through the historic plaza surrounded by old palaces and courtyards that show off Newari architecture. This afternoon, you'll finish at Bouddhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world, where you can walk the circuit around the main structure and see prayer flags and religious artifacts. The site draws Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims and monks, so there's real spiritual activity happening throughout the day, especially in the late afternoon.
