Itinerary
- Day 1
Anchorage
You'll arrive in Anchorage and meet your German-speaking guide, then head to the hotel to settle in. After dropping your bags, you'll connect with the rest of the tour group and get oriented with information about what's ahead.
- Day 2
Anchorage to Seward
Start at Lake Spenard, checking out the seaplane airfield where up to 800 planes operate daily, then tour the Aviation Museum to see historic aircraft. From there, drive south toward Seward through vegetation-covered terrain on the Kenai Peninsula. Later in the afternoon, you'll tackle a hike with options like the Iditarod Trail, Coastal Trail, Fort McGilvary, or the area around Salmon River at Tonsina Beach.

Seward
Another hike in the Seward area is available if you'd like, or you can choose other activities. The main event is the Kenai Fjords boat tour, running about six hours with chances to see wildlife and glaciers. The Alaska Sea Life Center aquarium is another option. By evening, grab dinner at one of the local restaurants known for fresh fish dishes.

Seward to Denali National Park
Head north from the Kenai Peninsula along Turnagain Inlet, where you might spot white beluga whales. You'll pass by Anchorage and continue on the George Parks Highway toward Denali National Park. That evening, there's an optional glacier flight available, roughly one hour long.

Denali National Park
Travel deep into Denali National Park using a park shuttle bus to explore one of North America's most striking landscapes. On clear days, you'll see Mount McKinley at 6,193 meters, the highest peak in the USA. Keep watching for wolves, Dall sheep, moose, caribou, and grizzly bears throughout the day. The shuttle returns you to the park exit by evening.

Denali to Denali Highway
Leave Denali National Park and head east on the Denali Highway, a natural gravel road that passes through wild scenery perfect for photographs. This route is less traveled by most visitors, making it an insider's perspective on the Alaskan landscape.

Denali Highway to Dawson City
Continue north on the Glenn Highway and then connect to the Top of the World Highway, one of North America's most beautiful high-altitude routes. You'll drive through alpine plateaus, boreal forests, and tundra before crossing the highest Canada-USA border at Little Gold Creek. Pass through towns like Chicken, Action Jackson, and Jack Wade Camp. Later, take a ferry across the Yukon River to reach Dawson City by evening.

Dawson City
Explore Dawson City, a historic gold rush town where mining still happens today. Drive to Bonanza and Eldorado Creek with an option to visit an active gold mine. Head up Midnight Dome for views of the surrounding area, then walk through town checking out the partly original, partly restored buildings. In the evening, visit Diamond Tooth Gerties for the casino and cancan dancer performances.

Dawson City to Tombstone Mountains
Start early and drive up the famous Dempster Highway, a gravel road stretching over 730 kilometers and the only road to Inuvik on the Polar Sea. At the foot of the Tombstone Mountains, you'll do a day hike through tundra and mountain terrain. The distinctive wedge-shaped peaks create a moonscape-like environment and served as landmarks for early explorers.

Tombstone Mountains to Whitehorse
Leave the Klondike goldfields behind and drive south along the northern Klondike Highway toward Whitehorse. You'll see the Yukon River repeatedly, one of North America's longest waterways at nearly 3,200 kilometers. Stop at the Five Finger Rapids, a powerful section that was once treacherous for paddle steamers. Along the way, you'll pass old post stations, rest houses, and small towns reflecting the gold rush era history.

Whitehorse to Kluane Country
Visit the world's longest wooden salmon staircase, then drive about two hours via the Alaska Highway toward Kluane Country. In the afternoon, hike into Kluane National Park. The Auriol Trail offers a shorter four-hour loop through beautiful scenery south of Haines Junction if you prefer something less demanding.

Haines Junction
Spend the day hiking in Kluane National Park, home to the world's largest contiguous glacier area. Several trails are available for exploring. Sheep Mountain is particularly spectacular, overlooking Kluane Lake and offering chances to see Dall sheep. An optional scenic helicopter flight over the glacier region is also available if you'd like a different perspective.

Haines Junction to Skagway
Drive past Kathleen and Dezedash Lakes on the Haines Road with mountain views all around. Cross into the coastal mountains and through a different climate zone. Pass through Bald Eagle Valley where you're likely to spot a high concentration of bald eagles. From Haines harbor, take a ferry through the dramatic Lynn Fjord to Skagway, watching for sea otters, puffins, sea lions, or possibly whales. By evening, check out historic bars like the Red Onion Saloon, a former gold rush brothel now featuring live music.

Skagway
Explore Skagway, the gateway to the greatest gold rush. This small harbor town with roughly 800 residents is essentially an open-air museum with most structures under monument protection. Drive along the Klondike Highway toward Whitehorse through coastal mountains and past Windy Arm, stopping for photos. Visit Carcross and the Carcross Desert, known as the world's smallest desert, and see Emerald Lake with its striking water coloring. Back in Skagway, hike the lower portion of the famous Chilkoot Trail.
