Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Kathmandu

    Your flight lands in Kathmandu Valley with views of the Himalayan peaks as you descend. A representative meets you at Tribhuvan International Airport and drives you to your hotel. It's a good chance to settle in and catch your breath after traveling.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu Heritage Sites

    After breakfast, you'll walk through Kathmandu's historic sites starting with Durbar Square, then head to Pashupatinath Temple and the Swayambhunath Stupa where monkeys roam around. From there, you'll stop by Bouddhanath Stupa before meeting your trekking guide. Later you'll go over the trek details and prepare your gear for the days ahead.

  3. Day 3

    Kathmandu to Pokhara

    Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara along the scenic Prithvi Highway, passing through hillsides, rice fields, and river valleys. You'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way. By evening, you'll check into your accommodation and relax by Fewa Lakeside. If you prefer, a flight option is available instead of the 6-7 hour drive.

  4. Day 4

    Trek Begins

    After breakfast, fly to Jomsom in the Mustang District with mountain views all around. Once you arrive at the domestic airport, your trek begins to Kagbeni, passing through the entrance to Lower Mustang. You'll walk through the historic Kagbeni village with its brick buildings and monasteries, and Dhaulagiri Mountain is visible in the distance.

  5. Day 5

    Kagbeni to Chele Trek

    Trek deeper into Upper Mustang's restricted area from Kagbeni by presenting your Restricted Area Permit at the checkpoint. Walk beside the Kali Gandaki River basin with views of the Nilgiri mountains. Pass through Tangbe village and climb to Chhusang, then cross the river to reach Chele village, home to one of Mustang's oldest Buddhist communities.

  6. Day 6

    Chele to Syangboche Trek

    Trek from Chele through steep canyons and high passes crossing Taklam La at 3,624m and Dajori La at 3,735m, the day's highest point. Walk past Ramchung Cave and Chungsi Cave with views of Nilgiri peak, Damodar Danda, Yakawa Kang, Annapurna, and Tilicho peak. Climb steeply from Chungsi Cave to reach Syangboche village by evening.

    Syangboche to Tsarang Trek

    This is a long trekking day with magnificent mountain landscapes around you. Cross Yamada La pass at 3,850m and Nyi Pass at 4,010m on your way to Ghami, one of Mustang's most populated settlements. Cross a suspension bridge over Ghami Khola River at Tsarang La Pass, then continue to Tsarang village via Drakmar settlement.

    Tsarang to Lo Manthang

    Head out early to reach Lo Manthang, Mustang's ancient capital. Pass Ghar Goempa monastery where Guru Rimpoche's scriptures are on display. Descend through the gorge to Lo La Pass at 3,950m with views of Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Bhrikuti Peak, Tilicho Peak, and Damodar Kunda. Arrive at Lo Manthang with time to walk through mud-brick dwellings and visit one of the four major monasteries.

    Day 1

    Attend the first day of the Tiji Festival celebrating Vajrayana Buddhism with roots dating back to the 17th century. Join a pilgrimage to the Lo-Manthang Royal Palace built 600 years ago. Monks from Chhode Monastery perform rituals explaining the festival's origins. View the enormous thangka painting on the palace's white walls and meet the Lo Manthang Monarch. Watch the Tsa Chham dance performance and interact with locals gathered from nearby villages.

    Lo Manthang to Dhakmar

    Say goodbye to the people of Lo-Manthang and trek to Dhakmar. You can optionally stop at Ghar Goempa, a convent known as Gargen Chyoling Nunnery that once housed over 160 nuns and features paintings of Guru Rimpoche. Learn about its connection to the Samye monastery in Tibet. Arrive at Dhakmar village and take in views of its imperial red cliffs with yaks grazing in green pastures below.

    Dhakmar to Syangboche Trek

    Trek from Dhakmar via Syangboche village by climbing a hilltop and descending to Akaima. Cross a narrow dry plateau and pass through verdant fields to reach Ghiling village. Start early to avoid afternoon winds in the region. Cross Yamada La pass at 3,850m and Nyi Pass at 4,010m, then head down via Tama Gaon route past barley fields and streams to reach Syangboche.

    Syangboche to Chhusang Trek

    Trek from Syangbochen to Chhusang by retracing your earlier steps along the Syangbochen stream and then following the Mustang Khola river. Chhusang sits at the confluence of Narshing and Kali Gandaki rivers where you'll see towering cliffs in red-orange and silver-gray colors. Visit the historic Gompa Gang nunnery in the high cliffs (Thagsing Grangma caves) and observe the community farming and settlements.

    Chhusang to Jomsom Trek

    Trek down the Kali Gandaki River's riverbank to reach Jomsom, Mustang's main commercial hub. Look for black fossilized Shaligram stones along the riverbank, valued for spiritual and therapeutic properties. Stop for lunch in Kagbeni village with views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains. In Jomsom, explore Marpha village to see local customs and cultures. Sample local beverages, cuisine, and dried apples, a regional specialty.

In the evening, explore local attractions including a Thakali dinner at a local restaurant, boating in Fewa Lake, or hiking to Peace Pagoda.

After arriving, transfer to your accommodation and have spare time to explore the city. Later in the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your guide and tour staff to mark the end of your adventure.

    Excellent service from arrival to flight to Lukla and return from trek. My guide was terrific and did everything he could do for me reach my goal. My Kathmandu tour guide was perhaps the best guide I’ve ever had. He became a good friend who I stay in contact with.

    EBC tour was great. Sabita was always available to us throughout the tour whenever we needed anything. Our guide Tshiring was excellent throughout the 12 day trek. We would have not completed the trek to EBC without his help and support. I would highly recommend female guide to anyone doing the EBC trek.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 12th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 12th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Female Guide Holiday. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
