- Shawn· August 6th, 2024Excellent way to see Australia in an authentic way and meet new people. Our guide Tom W was very knowledgeable, friendly, considerate and helpful throughout the 8 days we spent on the road together. As a small group we were well catered for and if we had any questions Tom was right there to help night and day. There was a good mix of driving, hiking and exploring local sights on our way north. The sights and experiences on this trip were exceptional and I feel grateful I got to enjoy them at such a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone keen to discover the South Australian outback and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.Show moreUntamed Escapes commented on this reviewHello Shawn, Thank you for travelling with Untamed Escapes and for sharing your experience with others. Asked on June 19th, 2025I'm super interested in this trip. However, I do just want to check that there is a good mix of male and female attendees signed up to go for the upcoming date. I'm a solo female traveler and I would be much more comfortable booking the trip if I knew in advance that there was a roughly 50/50 split of men and women.
- Untamed EscapesOperator•Written June 2025
We do not ask for gender when people book, but if I was to make a presumption based on name, I would say we have majority female on the tour. This matches up with our 60% female, 40% male, that we see across all of our tours. When it comes to our tours, we pride ourselves on inclusivity and ensuring everyone is comfortable and happy with travelling through Australia.

Asked on June 7th, 2025I'd love to see Lake Eyre, and wondered how much time this trip would spend near there, 9r is there an9ther trip that would be better? Is it possible to tie in a flight? Rest of trip looks awesome too!
- Untamed EscapesOperator•Written June 2025
We only make a brief stop around the Lake Eyre area when track conditions are open to all vehicle types. Please note that this stop is not guaranteed on every departure. Do you have a preferred month for travel? We might have other options for Lake Eyre tours.

Traveler•Written June 2025Thanks for the tour info, and I hope to travel in July. If you do have other tours I'd be interested to see the other options to maybe visit the lake.
- Untamed EscapesOperator•Written June 2025
Our team is currently working on another option, which I believe will be an accommodated tour. I'm not yet sure when it will be live on our website, so I recommend checking back with us in July for updates on this option.

Asked on May 27th, 2025Can you confirm this trip is going for sure with 4 of us booking or do you need additional bookings to have 8? We will be travelling the rest of Australia before joining this trip and we will have smaller hardcase suite case under 26 inches. I assume that is ok? We will not have any pillows. I assume you supply pillows. We will be renting the sleeping bag. How cold will it get at night in the month of August. What about daytime temperature?
- Untamed EscapesOperator•Written May 2025
We only need 4 to confirm the tour, so you can book any of them and be safe in the knowledge that we would run the tour, even if it was just your family. Yes those dimensions would be fine. We advise suitcases under 26 inches and 23kg are okay, as we can store them in the trailer. You can then bring small backpacks on the bus with you as day bags, and access your suitcases when we stop for camp each night. We do not supply the pillows. The nights can get chilly, they can drop to around 5 degrees Celsius. Warm clothing is advised for the night time, but when wrapped up in the swag and sleeping bag you will find you will be fine. During the day temperatures range between 16-22, so are very pleasant, especially when enjoying the activities along the way.

Asked on March 20th, 2025Will I have a place to charge my devices during the tour?

Asked on January 7th, 2025I was wondering from on which month this might happen because of the temperatures, or what months do have a higher risk for this?
- Untamed EscapesOperator•Written January 2025
The Red Centre area typically starts to warm up from November each year, with daytime temperatures reaching around 32°C during daylight. However, the temperature at night remains around 15°C. As a result, we do not have a high-temperature policy for overnight camping, and the group will still camp under the stars during the summer months on our tours. To avoid the heat, our guide will schedule hiking and walking activities early in the morning. Given the nature of the area, we recommend that you bring water containers with a total capacity of 3 liters to stay hydrated during the day.
