Itinerary
- Day 1
Livingstone to Lusaka
You'll arrive in Livingstone a day early and head straight to Victoria Falls at Mosi Oa Tunya National Park for an included visit. That evening there's a pre-departure meeting at 18:00, then you're off at 7am heading to Lusaka, Zambia's capital. After that drive, you'll settle in at a farm on the outskirts for your first night camping.

- Day 2
Lusaka to South Luangwa National Park
Travel takes you to South Luangwa National Park, Zambia's premier wildlife destination. The park holds elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, and over 400 bird species. Once you arrive, you'll have free time and can choose optional game walks or game drives if you're interested.

South Luangwa National Park
After camp is set up in South Luangwa National Park, the day is yours. You can relax or book optional game walks and game drives to see the 60 different animal species and over 400 birds that live here. It's a good chance to pace yourself and explore at your own speed.

South Luangwa National Park to Chipata
This morning you'll head out on an open vehicle game drive with a local ranger through South Luangwa National Park. The concentration of animals around the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons is particularly intense. After the drive, you'll travel on to Chipata.

Landmarks South Luangwa National Park - Days 5 - 6
Chipata to Kande Beach, Lake Malawi
You'll cross the border from Zambia into Malawi and head to Kande Beach on Lake Malawi's shore, which takes up more than one-fifth of the country. Your campsite sits right on the beach, so swimming or relaxing are both options. Day 6 is free for optional activities like hiring a traditional bwato canoe or visiting a nearby village to connect with local Malawians.

- Day 7
Kande Beach to Chitimba Beach, Lake Malawi
The scenic drive takes you through rubber plantations to Mzuzu, where you'll pick up supplies and check out the market. From there it's on to your beach-side camp at Chitimba Beach. The afternoon is yours to spend relaxing by the water, playing volleyball, or browsing the local craft markets.

Chitimba Beach, Lake Malawi to Iringa, Tanzania
A long but scenic drive crosses you into Tanzania today. You'll climb through the Southern Highlands and arrive at Kisolanza Farmhouse, a family-run working farm in a spectacular setting where you'll spend the night.

Iringa to Mikumi National Park
Head east to Mikumi National Park, Tanzania's fifth-largest reserve. Your accommodation sits right on the park's edge. This evening you'll relax around an open fire under the stars, and if you want, you can book an optional game drive to see lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles.

- Day 10
Mikumi National Park to Dar es Salaam
Your route to Dar es Salaam takes you straight through the heart of Mikumi National Park. Along the way you'll probably spot some wildlife, and stops happen if anything notable shows up like forest elephants or roadside giraffes. When you reach your beach campsite outside Dar es Salaam, you'll have time to check out local markets or explore the town.

- Days 11 - 14
Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar
On the morning of Day 11, you'll take the ferry to Zanzibar while the overland truck stays on the mainland. Zanzibar has idyllic sandy beaches with palm trees, romantic cobbled streets in the historic areas, and lush tropical forests. You'll spend Day 11 in Stone Town and Days 12-14 at one of the northern beaches with plenty of time to explore and relax. Breakfast is included at simple hotels throughout your stay.

- Day 15
Zanzibar to Bagamoyo
The morning gives you time for last-minute shopping or one final swim before catching the ferry back to the mainland at Dar es Salaam. From there you'll travel to Bagamoyo for the evening. This quaint town dates back to the late 18th century and was once one of the most significant trading ports on the East African coast. Your camp sits close to the palm-fringed beaches of the Indian Ocean.

Landmarks Bagamoyo - Day 16
Bagamoyo to Marangu
You'll head out early from Bagamoyo, traveling north past the Usambara and Pare Mountains in the Eastern Arc Mountain Range toward Marangu at the base of Kilimanjaro. If weather cooperates, you'll get beautiful views of the mountain from your campsite and the surrounding area.

Marangu to Arusha
Driving past Moshi gets you to Arusha, Tanzania's safari capital and your base for exploring the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. This afternoon you'll take a walk to a local Maasai village where you'll visit a school and clinic, see the small Maasai museum, and check out the Meserani Snake Park with its crocodiles, pythons, and other species. Optional camel riding is available if you're interested.

- Day 18
Arusha to Serengeti National Park
Today begins your Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater excursion. The overland truck stays behind while you transfer to designated safari vehicles. You'll enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, drive around the crater rim, and onto the Serengeti's wildlife-rich plains, one of the last great wildernesses. Millions of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope migrate across these plains followed by lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Game driving takes you to your unfenced campsite where you'll listen to the bush sounds with lions and hyenas nearby.

- Days 19 - 20
Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Day 19 starts with a game drive out of the Serengeti looking for any species you haven't spotted yet, then you travel back to the Ngorongoro Crater rim for camping. Day 20 you'll drive down into the crater itself on a steep road. Your early morning game drive gives you chances to spot every major African animal except giraffes, who can't make the steep climb. After lunch at camp, you'll head back to Arusha.
