You'll arrive in Chicago with the day open to explore downtown on your own schedule or stay relaxed at your hotel. This evening you'll meet the group and your tour leader for a casual welcome gathering to get to know everyone.

Chicago
After breakfast, join a guided tour that covers Lake Shore Drive, the Magnificent Mile, and Navy Pier. Once that wraps up, the rest of your day is yours to fill however you like, whether that means checking out the museums, walking through the downtown architecture, or just wandering around at your own pace.

Chicago to Sioux Falls
You'll head west through the Midwest farmland, passing corn and wheat fields and dairy farms along the way. Then you cross the Mississippi River and move into Iowa before arriving in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the night.

Sioux Falls to Rapid City
Travel west across South Dakota's grasslands to Badlands National Park, where you'll see the colorful rock formations and learn about the buffalo and antelope that lived there. After that, you'll head to the Black Hills to visit Mount Rushmore and take in the sacred landscape before settling into Rapid City for the night.

Rapid City to Cody/Billings-Livingston
Continue driving west through Wyoming, which has twelve mountain ranges, deserts, and grasslands spread across it. You'll arrive in Cody for the night, though depending on weather or road conditions in Yellowstone, you might stay in Billings-Livingston, Montana instead.

Cody to Yellowstone National Park
Drive through the Wyoming mountains into Yellowstone National Park. With an expert guide, you'll tour the geothermal features, waterfalls, and geysers, hitting spots like Yellowstone Lake, Old Faithful, the canyon falls, and Hayden Valley where wildlife hangs out.

Yellowstone to Salt Lake City
Head through Grand Teton National Park to see the mountain peaks and watch for local wildlife. You'll stop at Snake River Outlook for photos, then continue to Salt Lake City. Once there, a guide will take you through the State Capital building, Temple Square, and the Tabernacle while explaining the Mormon community's history.

Salt Lake City to Bryce Canyon
Journey to Bryce Canyon and tour the multicolored sandstone formations called hoodoos with your guide. Later, if weather cooperates, you can spend time in the evening looking up at the night sky and spotting stars and constellations above the canyon.

Bryce Canyon to Flagstaff
Leave Bryce Canyon and head to Lake Powell, where red-rock canyon walls rise up from blue water. Then continue to Grand Canyon National Park to see the mile-deep canyon with its gorges, spires, old volcanoes, and the Colorado River snaking through. You'll drive back to Flagstaff along Route 66 for the night.

Flagstaff to Las Vegas
Drive toward Las Vegas, passing through Seligman, a small Route 66 town that looks like it stopped changing sixty years ago. After that, you'll have the afternoon and evening free to walk the Las Vegas Strip and explore on your own.

Las Vegas to Los Angeles to San Francisco
Head west toward the coast, driving through the Mojave Desert with Joshua trees along the way. You'll arrive in Los Angeles by afternoon, and a guide will take you through Hollywood, Sunset Strip, and parts of Beverly Hills, getting you to the hotel around 5 p.m. After saying goodbye to the friends you've made on the tour, you'll depart for San Francisco.
