Itinerary
- Day 1
Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes
A vehicle picks you up and takes you to Ollantaytambo train station, where you'll board a train heading to KM 104 to start your trek. From there, you hike through scenic terrain for roughly 3 hours, passing waterfalls along the way until you reach the Wiñay Wayna ruins at 2900 meters altitude. After stopping for lunch, the trail continues for about 2 more hours toward the Sun Gate, then you'll make your way down to Aguas Calientes.

Machu Picchu
Following breakfast, head out early on a walk that takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive at Machu Picchu. Your guide spends 2 hours walking you through the history and significance of the site, after which you get free time to wander around on your own. If you're interested, there's an optional climb up Huayna Picchu mountain (1 hour going up, 1 hour coming down). Later in the day, you'll go to Aguas Calientes station to catch a train back to Ollantaytambo, then take a bus up to Cusco.
